I pay £74 currently and have been with farrier for many years he puts his prices up every April and as I have 4 it costs me a bomb! I know I could save a lot of money if I switched but apart from the price, I can't fault him so will stay loyal! Does make my eyes water a little though and daren't tell my OH!
£75 per set, plus £1 per road nail. He's only just put his prices up to this from this month for the first time in over two years. Excellent farrier, totally reliable and will put a lost shoe back on for nothing on his way home.
I'm in North Yorkshire and am lucky enough to get mate's rates for my trims (currently barefoot) but my farrier charges £65 for a full set and is patient and reliable and has a good reputation for remedial shoeing.
The one before was very similar, extremely good with awkward animals (YO's donkeys and Shets) and was £70 for a full set, including road studs but that was three years ago.
I would recommend either of them and price would not be my first consideration as long as it wasn't exorbitant!
Just had mine shod actually, not sure what he charges for trims or front but full set is £60, full set and 1 road pin in each is £64 and full set with 1 pin in each a stud hole in each is £70 (this is what I had this time)
I pay about £50 for a barefoot trim after currency exchange. Had a nightmare experience with a cheaper farrier somebody recommended and learned my lesson, so now we go with the expensive guy who always turns up on time and always does a perfect job.
I pay £45 for a trim, which is expensive for my area but he is an amazing farrier and the last farrier I had almost ended in my horse being PTS. So I would rather pay more.
Just paid £153 for two full sets and two road nails. I've used this farrier since the late 1990's and he's excellent, whether the horse is old or young, straight forward or a bit of a plank!
Previous farrier was £85 a set and £1.50 for each road nail or stud hole. That was over a year ago. Current farrier charges £60 with as many road nails and stud holes as you like. Both excellent farriers.
My farrier charges £50 a set handmade shoes , I'm a happy bunny!!! .....these are a few days old...
or £40 front shoes and a hind trim, £15 full trim. Specialises in remedial work.
£65 full set, £40 for fronts and back trim, £20 for all over trim . My farrier is awesome, he will come out and take a look if I tell him my horse is lame and dig out abscesses for nothing, comes out of his way to put on pulled shoes for free, and I remember when my mare had £150 worth of remedial farriery, he told me to cancel the vet's remedial farrier and he shaved the wedge down on her raised bar shoes until she could wear normal shoes, then took her bf. She's never had a lame day since
I know two people that have the same farrier and pay £100 for a full set >< as he has some extra qualification. He's a hateful bloke and he got chucked off the yard where I am for scaring a horse.
Just changed to a new farrier (and very pleased with him). He charges £70 per set but replaces any lost shoes free of charge. Our TB mare currently being shod by vet hospital farrier cost my daughter a whopping £320 for a set!! (But she's now sound!)
£60 a set, £62 with road nails. Best farrier in the world - no end of patience especially when we introduce him to new arrivals we get straight off the moor who all seem to think that men clearly eat Exmoor ponies for breakfast, lunch and dinner!!!
