How much (((((forage)))) do you feed a day?

The two bigger girls (15.2 arab and 15.1 welsh x arab) have about half - 2/3 a small square bale of hay over night - depending on what time they insist on being removed from the field!! (Aka how much it's raining...). The pony has about 1/3 bale over night. They will all have some hay left over in the morning. They are out every day from 6.30 to 4 ish every day (depending on rain...).

What's with the (((forage)))) brackets?? What have I missed?? ;)

Hehe I love this thread :D :D :D. Charlie has hardly any grass so he pretty much has as much hay as he wants atm either in his field or in his hay rack in stable :) he doesn't have anything else apart from a few pony nuts+the odd carrot+apple :)

Mine have (((haylage))) but I don't use haynets so I don't know how much exactly, they're fed twice a day. Or if they go out in the swamp (aka-field) then they just have (((haylage))) at night. No hard feed although I think I'm going to have to start feeding them some, they've both dropped a little the last couple of weeks. I tried (((hugs))) and (((kisses))) but they preferred (((forage)))

A big net in the afternoon when she comes in, and another one overnight, plus a small one to share with her field mate when she goes out in the morning. He usually eats most of this as she is too lazy to (((((forage))))) for it :(

Robin Hood! I hope you have staff to feed that many times! Otherwise you'd be tied good and proper:D

God I don't know about <<<<<<<forage>>>>>>>> as I tether mine. I suppose he gets a bite or two...........who knows and who cares.

Aslib in stable.
Grass in field. Good for time of year.
Pure feeds conditioning pellets.

I don't understand anyone who thinks its ok for horses to be without forage for ant amount id time.
That are grazers!!
Horses need ((((forage)))!!

There are some green shoots of grass in my field and the ponies are ((((((((((foraging)))))))) on them, do you think they will be safe for them to eat, they are choosing these instead of the hay I am putting out?

^hi, no I'd be very concerned. It's much better if you can get them eating these yellow plant looking things. Regwork or something like that. Hope that helps x
