How much pink is to much pink?

I have my one lovely mare. She is my one and only and I spoil her to death. All of her items are pink. She is always dressed to the nines in her pink gear. I just like it that way. My stuff is easy to spot from 100 yards away.

Recently, a fellow boarder told me that I have over done and out did my self.

I mean, I've had a pink obsession since I was a little girl, and it naturally passed over to my horse's things, and when I could find stuff for her in pink, I purchased it. I'm the only one in my stable with the pink gear.

I don't rub it in anybody's face. I really do mostly keep to myself and spoil the death out of my mare. She is my true love and if I was a horse, I'd sure love to be in her place!!

Anyways, no one but her says anything. Yes, it did hurt my feelings as I don't see why it is anyone's business what I buy for her, regardless of it being pink or not. My mare isn't complaining, so what gives?

And I list of what I have in pink:
Fly Sheet & Fly Mask
Sheets/Blankets
Shipping Boots
Brushes
Saddle Pads (as well as white & black ones)
Brown Bridle with pink padding
Bell boots, wraps, & brushing boots
Saddle Cover
Stirrup Pads
Wheelbarrow, muck fork, buckets, hose.
Brown leather halter with pink padding w/ matching lead
Nylon halter with matching lead
Lunge Whip & Lunge Line
Dressage Whip & Jumping Bat
Fly Veil

All my bags for transport are black/white/pink.

All my paper work is kept in a pink binder.

And I'm hoping to get the Hi-Viz stuff in pink soon.

There is probably much more, I just cannot remember what all I have right now!!

Anything I can fit in my wood trunk is in there so it is out of sight and not flooding the barn with pink. In 6+ months, one girl is the only person to say something. And it wasn't so much as what she said, as how she said it. Sigh, I won't let it stop me from purchasing her stuff in pink as it's her color.

Is there a such thing as to much? With most things in my trunk, you'd have no idea I have all that stuff!

In my opinion any pink is too much pink - but that is the great thing about being human, we are all different.

If you enjoy dressing your horse in pink and she looks pretty then you carry on. However, on HHO there will be a demand for photos of your lovely horse dressed up. :)

Pink is just a colour;) as long as it does the job it doesn't matter. Does the non-pink person have a colour scheme? You will be easy to spot on the roads anyway :)

As for your question , I don't do pink on purpose, but one of my colts has a pink plaid turnout, because it was the right size and half price ;) another has a pink (faded red) rug and I appear to have a lot of pink shirts.

If pink makes you happy then go for it :D

If you get any other comments from anyone, suggest, very politely, that they take that pent up angst they have against your colour of choice and turn it into something useful by getting active with WHW or similar organization

If its any help, my big flashy chestnut DWB sports pink and lilac and y'know what, my horse, my money, and the 'orse aint bothered so :p:p:p to anyone who doesn't like it :rolleyes::D

You need to talk to PapaFrita about this. I think her pink obsession might have waned slightly (everso slightly) since her lovely mare produced a matching colt foal but at heart I'm sure she still has a passion for pink.

You can never have too much pink :D my pink ambitions are slowed by having two geldings, however I do still try! When possible, I buy kit in as crazy a colour as possible to prevent it from going walkabouts at the livery yard I'm at... Oddly enough, things don't walk quite so much any more ;)

My poor welsh gelding away at a driving trial in his snuggy jams... Hood has already been removed!

Oh! And my pink hat never goes walkabouts!! And even gets worn in public ;)

As above really! Personally I'm not a fan of pink on horses (caveat issued here: I do have some pink hi-viz as to me it looks brighter, but that's just for safety!), however if that is what someone else likes I wouldn't dream of rubbishing them for it because it's not to my taste! This other girl just has sour grapes, probably because you do spoil your mare so much and she's jealous/feels that you're showing her up because she doesn't do the same.

Don't let her upset you, she's not worth it. Just smile sweetly at her when you see her, and pretend she never said that. It will annoy the hell out of her if she thinks you're unaffected.

I have a pink/lilac saddle pad and pink stirrups and that looks great on my mare. i also wear pink hi viz vest and hat band (have to have pink hat band for hacking on someone's farm here) I think it all looks lovely but I do worry that any more might ott it!

I personally don't do pink, but there is absolutely no harm in it. Sounds like your mare is extremely well cared for, and that's what matters, whether she is dressed in neon yellow, sparkly purple, pink or gold is irrelevant - she won't care in the slightest and just knows she has a loving and caring owner :)

I think you should get a pink 'I love my mare in pink' sign for her stable door to wind the other livery up ;)

This thread needs Papafrita's pink overload picture!

OP I'm not a fan of pink, and I think having a ridgid colour scheme for everything can come over as a bit childish, but if you want everything pink go for it. Ignore anyone having a birch, it is doing no harm to your horse or anyone else.

^^ Here Nesta can be seen wearing a pink seat saver, pink numnah, pink piped bling bridle, pink fetlock, brushing and overreach boots...she's also got a pink stable sheet :D

I'd have other things pink for her but I can't find them! ;) My other horse has purple things :D

Not a pink fan myself and with a 15.2hh chunky male cob I don't think pink would really be an option but its your horse, your money you are spending and you are not hurting anyone so to be honest the person commenting should mind their own business. It has nothing to do with them. We bought a palamino miniature recently as a surprise for my MIL and she then wanted all new grooming kit and head collar and she had it all in pink.

Never too much! I love it, thank goodness I have a mare now as I used to dress up my gelding in it, that did raise a few eyebrows!

Don't worry what anyone else thinks, she's your horse and you can dress her in what you like, TBH I think she's rather rude!

It's your horse! you decide how much is enough! I bet you think other people are drab, but you wouldn't tell them to pink up would you? Honestly people are so rude!

I don't understand the question  I love pink so no amount of pink can be considered too much :p My mare looks very pretty in pink because she is a grey. She also looks brilliant in purple.

Having said all that however, I do tend to buy whatever I need that is the best value so she's only got a handful of pink and purple things but I would always go for pink if there was a choice.

Keep on keeping on with the pink theme and ignore any detractors I say :D

Daughter & her pony are very much into pink & purple matchy matchy. When she rides, all but her jod boots, bit, bridle, saddle & stirrup irons are pink or purple. Even have browbands & stirrup treads in pink & purple. And the hi-viz is a mix of pink & yellow for visibility. Rugs, buckets, nets, grooming kit, headcollars etc all pink & purple. Pink nameplate on stable & a pink & purple 'very special pony' sign. Purple fork, pink brush & purple trug in place of barrow. Even purple rubber skipping out gloves. She uses my normal shovel & has black plaiting bands but I can't think of anything else except show gear that isn't pink or purple. Not my taste but its daughters choice & it does look cute for a little girl & small pony.
In your case op who cares? As long as the horse has its needs met its nobody else's business. And its really not worth a second thought, let alone being upset, if someone else doesn't like it.

:D :D Dee O'Dorant is going to be murdered by PF :D Thanks for the link , and the description though! Cheered me up so your valliant efforts have not gone unrecognised!

I bought a girl horse just SO I CAN buy pink!!!

It's a marvellous colour.

I also love yellow, orange, green... I tell you what, watch out matchy-matchy world, when Vee grows up you'll know about it - oh and she will be grey so I will have tack the colour of the rainbow :D:D

Starting with this...

Hasn't done Katie Price's bank account any harm being a pink fan.

Personally don't do matchy matchy - far too twee and girly but that's just me.

Do whatever floats your boat (as long as it doesn't harm anyone else and is legal) and tell anyone else it's none of their business!

I must find her those sheep jammies! I have a pair of pajama pants that have nearly the same pattern!

My stable owner doesn't mind my pink obsession, so as long as I'm not hurting my mare, she doesn't care. It's just the one rude gal, who like to be the 'queen' of the barn. Yet, she is one of the most unpopular gals there. Most people tend to avoid her because of her 'tude. I try to be nice, but at some points in time, I just want to haul off and smack the poo out of her.

I'm quite the girly girl (except as of late, been feeling under the weather) and have always made sure I make myself look decent before going out in public. I've got a routine down so it only takes 30 minutes or so now.

I've got pink britches too! Now, just waiting to have enough saved for the pink Hi-Viz stuff. After that, I'm pretty sure if I get lost while hacking, it won't be hard to spot me. I think I'll be glowing! I came across a very nice show coat in pink last week. Hmm ... Think I should go for it? It would look fab with my pink britches!.:cool:

In a sea of bays, who all are wearing blue/red/green blankets (at least two horses in each color) it's hard to determine who is who, so her pink is like a homing beacon for her. See the pink? You found me!

My partner in crime, so to speak, is a die hard lime green fan. Her grey gelding looks fab in it, and he doesn't mind. It just isn't as easy to find stuff for him in lime. Pink is in abundance, so no problem there!

PF's mare, and everyone elses pink clad ponies/horses, are just adorable in pink (even the grey gelding!). My girl has a lot of white markings as she is a pinto/draft cross (and be danged if she won't roll in poo just to make those white spots go away!) but her spots are hidden when she has a blankets on.

And I think I will get a sign for her stall in bright pink. I've got a pink nameplate on my trunk (a gift), so why not her stall? Just got to find a place that sells them. Any suggestions? And what about a pink stall guard? One of those nylon ones like this: http://www.doversaddlery.com/web-stall-guard/p/X1-2711/ ( I live in the states, but don't mind shopping abroad!) I even found horseshoes in pink, but my girl is a bare-foot and I want to keep her that way.

I don't have any pics of her in her pink gear anymore. My computer that had them decided to crash, burn, and self-implode. I'll need to get some of her dressed up soon!
