Depends on the quirk, the yard facilities and capabilities of yard staff I think.
Mine for example moving on to amazing full livery yard, from diy. I had to explain that the 14hh native pony, easy in almost every way, eats like a tb at peak race fitness...
Had to have ad lib haylage but must be fed from bucket on the ground. Nets are too much effort to eat from...
Anything that touched the floor is dead to her and so is anything over 8hrs old, even if you take it out and mix it with new she knows! And will promptly refuse to eat anything at all.
Cue the sceptical looks and, it will eat when it’s hungry...
trust me it won’t, I know, I’ve tried!
then 3 weeks later the comment, wow she really is a diva! ??
Her leftovers got donated to the very chuffed genuine tb in the stable next door so no waste and my wannabe happily tucked into her always fresh stuff.
