I would be wary about charging for fuel as it falls under hire & reward- which could mean you need an Operator’s licence.

I take my friend everywhere with me and I don't ever charge her anything.
She just throws me some money every now and then but even then, I feel awkward taking it! 😂

I think if going to a show you might be glad of the company so can just see what she offers unless it's a long way and you think you're going to incur significantly increased costs for transporting her horse.

My friend charges a flat £20 per horse going up to about an hour away. I'd say that's definitely more than fuel but way less than a fair share of running costs per use.

If you are at all worried about charging I'd go with 'I'll drive, you buy lunch /pay entry fee' etc.
