Would you expect a horse from this description to be vauled at?

16.2, 7yro warmblood mare.
Schoomistress, branded and papered.
Recently imported from Belgium and has since been used as a showjumping and general allrounder.
Super safe to ride, ridden in a snaffle at all times, never firey or heated up. JUmped with Belgiums SJ association for 3 years, very honest and relable jumper happy to ride with washing lines without being spooky or silly. Bif mover, sounds no vices, hangups, bums, etc.


I have come across her and her conformation isn't very good looking at the picture, very upside down (especially her neck) no pictures of her been ridden just sat on.
So going by description alone how much would you think she would be worth (if the ad were geniune?)

....will say what they are asking for her once I get a few replies.

looking at that I wouldnt expect it's schooling to be up to much. It does look v. upside down as you say and there is something about the way its put together in general - can't put my finger on it - it may be the angle. Maybe £3-£3.5k
 
She sounds like a nice little mare from the advert as I am just keeping my eyes open for something who is sane and sensible and obviously not looking for a world beater. Would her upside down'ness be correctable at all do you think?
She is up for just shy of 2k, and it made me wonder if this price would be there for some reason (health or behaviour).
 
Claire her colour makes me like her even more!

I am not wanting a horse perfectly put together, I am happy with odd'ness so long as it doesn't seriously affect their way of going. I don't have a big budget so beggers cannot be choosers

Sounds like a good price. They don't mention hacking and I would be interested to know if she has been here long enough for any napping etc to kick in. Also, ad doesn't say much about her competing - I would assume if she had done well they would have put more about it, it could just be that she has been registered. At that price it wouldn't hurt to have a look though! It might take you a few months to restructure her muscle development but after that she could be nice

I don't think thats a bad price really. Depends on what you want her to do. More schooling may improve her top line and therefore the appearance of her neck. Also poll flexion exercises would increase the tone of the muscle.
Go for a ride and see what you think - its certainly worth a look!
 
very true! a rider with a good position would improve the overall picture, is she a little bum high too?

Her general conformation isn't great, but it depends on what you are buying her for? If its just general allrounder her conformation should be too much of a problem, dont expect she is going to be very well schooled though. but this can be worked on

Make sure you get her vetted as that price seems a little low, very possibly could be something wrong with her?
 
I am just wanting a nice allrounder to enjoy and to compete on (mainly SJ).
Was just a bit worried that her price may be low for a hidden reason.
If I were to get her she would also be used by uni students not just me so hopfully that would help as she would be schooled on a regular basis.
 
Aimee I would get her vetted if I went to see her and liked her, I am not prepared to part with so much money for a lame horse

Sounds like a reasonable price bearing in mind it looks like she hasn't done a lot of schooling, and there is no mention of the height she competes at - I imagine not terrible high.
 
For SJ I would have a thorough vet check - its a low price but that doesnt always indicate a problem horse. Prices up north are cheaper anyway. Regular, correct schooling would improve her no end.

No pictures of her jumping either, which doesn't help.
I don't jump huge anyways so won't be a problem

Mmmm I would be suspicous as to why priced so low. I was going to say around the £4k mark - but have just seen now that she us up for just under £2k.

Would be interesting to sit on it - it looks like a puller to me. She has no top line at all, and is very peackocky.

You going to go and have a look?
 
specifically ask about the hacking and listen very carefully to the response, you normally find with competition horses from abroad they have never hacked out and will appear at first to be ok on the roads ( I sometimes think it is just the sheer shock factor that they behave at first) once they realise there are scary cars and paper bags and things they can get very nappy in the wrong hands. There are lots of them on our yard who have nasty little rears and spins on the road all of them warmblood and x competition horses.

also defenitely have it vetted and x rayed. they dont often part with schoolmasters that can showjump and are totally sane for that kind of money most dealers would try and sell them for £4k based on the safety factor alone.

you never know though you may have just found what you are looking for at a good price but I would say be careful
 
She is a dealer !!
Its has prob just come over - some horse are ok
I used to buy from her - some are very wonky
She wont tell you about vices and a normally gets them from Markets for penuts and puts abit on to make a few quid in and out ones.
A friend bought a pony that she had traced it back and was loss of use going to meat man.
I would say 95% are not straight and if they are sound - will have hang up in other ways.
Saying that i had a couple of sweet youngsters from her - but these were unbroken and not easy to break - but once settled were nice straight horse.
