When you got your first horse?
I'm in my early thirties (god I hated being 30) and I've had my boy for two years now.
After years as a little un begging and pleading my mum and dad to buy me a pony and many attempts at banging my fists and screaming failed and I ended up working at my local riding school every weekend for my free lesson: mucking out, grooming and being a general child labourer!
After going to agricultural college I had a break from horses due to moving and work. Then I moved to my late grandads farm, bit the bullet, and bought the ginger hippo. Took me about 20 years but finally got my pony! :)

I was 12years old I saved up my Christmas money and had
£200 got a 2yo dartmoor I had to break in and paid livery by working on a yard every night for £20 per week how sad haha. Parents said if I wanted one I had to do it all myself I did get some help with other bills . She was a evil mare tried to kill me every opportunity but beggers can't be choosers :-)

It was the day before my 37th birthday. My birthday is November 2 but it was easier to buy on the 1st of the month. I had a bf at the time and we bought him between us. 3 years later we bought another horse and shortly after bf and I broke up and we swoped a half a horse each. It is now many years later and we are now best friends and still have our horses.

Sixteen, first time round, my lovely Bamber. Re-homed him six years later due to my ill health and had no contact with horses for over thirty years.

Second time round, 34 years after parting with Bamber, I got Mollie. :)

16- had loan horses to motivate me at school. do badly at school=no pony. my grandad died when i was 16 and left me some money so i bought my first horse and took him to college with me on my equestrian schloarship :) Had him 2 1/2 years now and hopefully he will be with me until he's all old and grey! Looking to maybe get another in a year or twos time..

8 when I got my first pony - but went to boarding school at 10 and didn't own another until my mid 30's. My daughter was 8 when we bought her first one too.

25. Had few on shares before that. Ha him almost 4 years now and he has a home for life despite being semi retired now. Just about to buy my second one, fingers crossed he passes the vetting tomorrow. Never thought few year ago would have one horse never mind 2 :)

21 saved for ages , got a little car first so i could get to the yard then got my horse, worked in london all week and ,as part of my livery ,had to work at the riding school evenings and all day sunday, used my horse as lead horse for 3 hours as well.....have had horses all the time ever since and am now a pensioner:eek:

I had 10 riding lessons for my 11th Christmas after MUCH pestering. My first pony Pepper was on loan when I was 14. He came as a scraggy pretty much unbroken 3yo and after a year or so when i'd done all the work his owners sold him without so much as offering me first refusal. for £400. I was devastated. Then had a series of other loans till my confidence was shattered by a nappy rearer at 19. Recently started riding again at 32 and am probably looking at buying my own next spring. :)

Loan pony when I was at primary school thru to 15. Then nothing Apart from working o random yards until I was 22!

14. My dad promised me a pony by the time i was 14 without telling my mum. Im 33 now and have never not had one since. Massive part of my life. Can never imagine not having them. I am very lucky :-)

I was 24! Worked for rides up to then, then went to uni. Came out if uni and was offered my share pony on loan, he went lame and ended up going back and I somehow ended up buying indie!

I was 44. And he was 4 :). I had done the "Daddy, please can I have a pony?" from about age 3 up to age 16, but Daddy was sensible and pointed out that our garden was not big enough :D. As it happened, it was a small sum of money that Dad left when he died that allowed me to buy Jackson, so in the end, he did buy me a pony :D

I'm 50 now, and he's 10, still my pony of a lifetime (even if he did grow to 17hh).

Ahh that made me smile :)

21. I had a few share horses before uni and got my own asap after uni. Sold him 5 years ago for financial reasons, and now after having my little girl am saving for another.

Miss him soo much but he went to a fab home. He took me to BE which was more than i ever thoight id do, and hes done the same now for a another girl and her little sister.

Interestingly the girl I bought him from, who was I think about 14 at the time, is a HHO er - i think.

My story is almost exactly the same as this, without the agricultural college and farm bit! I am 28 and just got my first horse after never finding a horse shaped object in my christmas stocking!
