wow... that is huge.... well my horse reached 16hh at 3 years old and never grew another inch, I dont think your going to be as lucky not with a bum that high....lol

Oh dear I was hoping of some reassurances :p that he is probably a mature boy who will stop growing at two, not keep going till at least 3 :D:D

Ah OP thank god for your post i have one exactly the same size, he was huge at birth but i though he would calm down but no in the slightest, thankfully he is a sweetheart.
When i done the old string test it showed him being over 18hh so i dont believe in the string test anymore lol

No reassurance here I'm afraid. My then 3/4 year old showed in 15.2 classes very successfully. Wintered out in the snow last year and would be the guts of 16.3 now. My 18month old is about 15 hands but my 8 month old Quirifino baby is the same and neither mum nor dad was big - looks very funny feeding though.

My rising 5yro is now 18hh and as a 2yro is was probably around 16/16.1hh.

Not sure where his giant genes come from as his dam was 16.2 and his sire was 16.3.

Ignore the string test at your peril! Joey was expected to be 16.1, he was just over 16 hands at 3 and the buyer, my vet, worried that he'd be big enough for a while but I said don't worry, string says 16.3 and he was a bit dubious. He's coming 6 now and we sticked him last week. He's 17.1 with still a bit more to go!:D

Harry was meant to be a show cob; all his siblings have been show cobs (done well as well) He'll be 3 in March and is now over 16 hands and quite elegant - not a show cob at all, more a riding horse!

Freddy (same age and type (TB x cob) was a typical ISH foal, quite rangy, thought he 'd get over 16 hands and make a decent hunter type. He's now 15.3 but a true cob, solid and stocky; might make a nice Maxi Cob.
Talk about role and size reversal! :D

Mine was 15.1 at 18 months old, she's 4 this May and now about 16.1hh. String test at 2 years old suggested she'd make 16.3. She's Polish WB x TB.

My girl was 15.3hh at just gone 2. She is now 3, 4 in March and stands at 16.1hh, she has been turned away for four months and hasn't grown anymore, i think that is about it for her, she is level and a raced TB, they are bred to finish growing a little earlier.

Our 2 rising 3 yr old in May is about 14.1hh, sire was 15hh and mum a small NF run mare. He is bum high hoping he'll make 14.2hh at least.

Some of you are making me feel a little bette but others are worrying me! My (nearly) 20mth old was lst measured about 2 mths ago and was 15.1 and a bit. He was 15hh when i got him in July 2001 (15mths) and ad said they expected him to make 16hh. Everyone reckons he's going to be 'big'! He does have some large, long legs on him. I think I shall measure him again soon as I imagine he'll be about 15.2hh. I can cope with 16.2hh as a grown up height but i am concerned he's going to be a giant! Lol

Still, as long as he is well behaved and enjoys ridden work I guess the only issue is getting on!!! hehe

My rising 3yr old is 16hh. He was a tiny foal and was only 14'1 this time last year and has now suddenly shot up! He will hopefully make a minimum of 17hh as i am 6ft.

Last month we measured Magic at 13.2hh, she was 7 months old. Her dam is a 15.2hh ISH and her sire a 14.2hh Welsh D. No idea what height she will make but was expecting 15hh...?

Last time I checked (about September when he turned 3) my boy was about 14.3 at wither and 15 at bum. Might get my measuring stick out to check now... Not sure how much more he'll grow but if he makes 15, I'm happy.

No idea what he came from so no idea what he should end up!

I'm gutted, don't think my youngster will be as big as I hoped. As long as I am not too big for her she is staying though!
She will be 3 in may and is currently around 14.2hh, I have her mother a 15.1 TB and her dad was a TBxID but not exactly sure on height and struggling to find out, he was PTS a around 2 years ago.

All you with big horses!!
I, on the other hand have a diddy one... Penny will only be 1 in April, her mum was 12.2hh NF and her dad was 14.1hh 3 year old NF. Currently she is 10.3/11hh, but quite bum high. I am hoping she will grow to 13.2hh and stay at 13.2hh!! A nice PC pony size I think.

My 3 1/2 year old is currently just over 14.3hh in front and just over 15hh behind. Imhoping for at least 15.1hh! at 2 1/2 he was about 14.1 1/2 ish.
My 2 1/2 exmoor filly is currently 11.3hh in front and 12.1 1/2 behind so I think shes gonna be a full up exmoor size maybe even a bit bigger! she will prob make at least 12.2hh. shes quite a finely built exmoor tho so is prob better to carry me (5ft6 8 1/2 stone) when i bought her in september she was 11.3 in front still and 12hh behind.

My 2 rising 3 yr old filly is between 16.3hh and 17.0hh now. Dam and sire are both tall but her half sister who is a year older is barely 16.0hh!
