How to approach this? Husband + horsebox = moaning Husband

How have I missed this until 7 pages in?!

Billie - this is a simple situation. We will get the lorry (I'm the sharer btw people)
You know this because our amazing instructor friend has decided it and you know full well once she has an idea in her head it IS going to happen. (This has happened to both of us in the last 48 hours - hacking at speed and jumping)

Mr Billie will accept what you say as he always does and always will. You need to approach him at the right time and let the right things come out of mouth. That means not gobbing off when he's not keen...
You may have to remind him of the multi purpose gym.
You may have to remind him of the shed port.
You may have to remind him of recent successful car purchase.

You may have to cover yourself in cheese....


This purchase is happening. He will not be happy. But he will get over it of you show him that it is ok...

And maybe offer some nice gym equpiment as a bribe??

One more thing....


We can go to the BEACH!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
If it were me, I would just go ahead and buy it. If you earn 75% of the income, then presumably you can buy it without financial input from him.

I'm honestly shocked at how much I read on here about women tip-toeing around after men. Whats the point in having one (a man) if he doesn't enhance your life? I don't know anyone who behaves like this off this forum! (although I do know a lot of relationships where the man is constantly buying the woman stuff, like cars, horses, etc.).

I bought my horsebox a few years ago, from my own savings. My husband was helpful in choosing it and services it for me. I think he slightly loves it. He loved it even more after we took it to a triathlon we were both doing and we were able to wheel the bikes up and down the ramp, sleep in comfort the night before (when everyone else was in tents) and even watch some tv. Now he is talking about getting a bigger one with more living from joint savings, and he doesn't even ride (much)!

Do you enjoy driving type, exploring holidays? Can you not point out to him that it can double up as a motorhome?
 
Pogface and Mithras ..... I love your comments and attitude!! Women rule cos they let their men think their imput is valuable (even if it is ignored!!) Have a ball with your truck....I became liberated at Christmas (again after the last float/trailer died!) BEACH RIDING IS FAB!!!!

love this thread! and for those who think Billie is tiptoeing, I think it is more about working with your OH. I didn't read it as asking for permission (she clearly had no intention of doing that), rather how to present it nicely (packaged in cheese by the sounds of it) to keep the peace. I have been on the receiving end of such tactics in the past and appreciated that my then OH actually thought about how I would feel!
 
Never mix friends and business! You should buy one of your own and if you find you are not using it enough, hire it out in between times. The selling point to your hubby would then be that is will earn you money rather then cost you money! Having said that, once you have your independence, I guarantee you will be out and about as much as possible!
 
Just say, Btw dear, im treating myself after my new promotion at work, so and so has offerred me a share in a lovely wee lorry, cheaper than buying one for myself, im looking into it, will let you know how it goes :D
 
Just hide it for a few weeks then tell him you've had it for ages. Usually works for me...
Oh this saddle, shirt, hat, etc, had it for ages!

Not sure it would be so easy with lorry but worth a go.
