His lordship is in at night and has been since June when he had bout of lami, later diagnosed as ringbone (vet thinks still had lami aswell, but bit sceptical)

Anyway, been bedded on equimat and good layer of shavings, megazorb, easibed, you name it weve tried it. The straw that broke the camels back is £50 in a month on bedding as he is sooooo wet.
Think he will have to go back onto straw but he eats it.

Tried introducing it into a dirty wet mix of megazorb and jeyes fluid and he still ate it!!!

How can I get him back onto straw without coliking or find a bedding that isnt costing the earth!

Straw is £1 bale from YO (farmer) shavings nearly £7 megazorb £6
Getting to the point I cant justify £40 - £50 on monthly bedding costs
HELPPPPPPP

Depending on what type of straw it is, and the quality of it I'd be tempted to give him less hay or haylage and allow him to feed on straw. It will have lower nutritional value and will give him enough fibre to keep his hindgut moving without so many calories.

Obviously as long as his teeth are able to cope with straw etc.

Agreed wit ISM-mad - let him eat it. Why not try and find some good quality straw, maybe oat straw. It's a more expensive but still cheaper than hay/haylage. Then he can eat to his hearts content and not colic.
