How would you split this vet bill?

I had to call the vet out to examine my horses eye which was all puffed up. Whilst coming out, 2 of the other liverys asked if I could get him to give their horses their tetnus jabs which I arranged. I've just got the vets bill so my question is how would you split it between the 3 of us;

Vist & examine horse with infected eye £38
2 x eye drops £12
2 x tetnus £12

Total, £86

I would call the surgery and ask how much a visit is without exam, and then split that 3 ways. Then you all pay your elements of what is left over. In the future, ask for individual bills and let the vet divide the visit up for you.

Aks the vet to break down the charge for visit and exam.

You pay for the exam and eye drops that were for your
horse.

They pay their tetnus jabs.

You split the cost of the visit three ways.

I did ask for individual but he said he doesn't do them and in his own words "doesn't know how I am going to split the bill"!

By god that's cheap.

I'd split along the following lines:

2 liveries £22 each - tetanus jab plus £10 call out
you £30 - £10 call, £8 examine, £12 drops

presumably your total adds on the vat, so just add 15% to those figures

find out what the vist cost split in to three so you each have an equal to pay obv the tetnus is £6 each so they pay that and you pay for the eye drops and the examination on yours when u find out how much that is which is probably £10 of the £38 call outs are more expensive than what the vet actaually does

Doh, I've wrote my original post wrong - their tetnus is actually -

2 x 18 = £36

Obviuosly I pay for eye drops at £12. They pay for the tet at £3 total but its the call out/exam at £38 that I am flumoxed about.

Our vets alway split it into visit and exam - I once got a 1/6 of a visit on a busy yard where lots of people added themselves onto a visit.
Mind minecharge £36 to come out in working hours before they even look at the horse. Exam is another £15 to £35 on top depending on whether it's a brief exam, first exam or re exam.
I wouldn't be getting into too much of an argument with the vet at those prices.

Does anyone have a previous bill from tet jabs to compare what they would have been on their own.

I would charge them £28 each - £18 per jab plus £10 each for callout leaving you with an £8 examination fee, and an equal £10 call-out fee. May not be right, but seems pretty fair.

Thanks all. Rang and spoke to receptionist who was more obliging and told me they charge £28 call out!! Easy peasy to split then!! X
