Just been flicking through my 'horse' diary- and i'd forgotten about half of the stuff that i've done with my boys!!
January-
Solo had terrible mud fever and ended up living in 24/7 for about 2 weeks. We didn't own Red then but his owner had gone on holiday, and i discovered that under all the mud, he had two white socks behind!
March-
Went down to the yard one morning to find that Solo couldn't move, and had a hind leg like an elephants. Cue one very panicky phone call to the vet, and an emergency call out, and we found it was Cellulitis. A run of Antibiotics, Bute and a £400 vet's fee's later, Solo was well again.
May-
Solo had his teeth, back and tack checked- his 'spring MOT'!
June-
Got the bf riding! Only little walks out on Red at the time, but he turned up at the yard a week later in boots, chaps and a hat!
July-
Took Solo out showing, winning 2 classes- ridden TB and riding horse. A brill day for us, although it did p**s it down all day!
Sadly, Sol's bessie mate Maitre dropped dead whilst out on excercise a week later- Sol misses him so much. Two weeks later, his other friend,Owen, was PTS due to a leg injury that never came right.
RIP Maitre de Musique and Owen.
August-
We bought Red! Definately one of my highs of this year, we certaintly did get a good bargain!
September-
Had the vet out to do both horses teeth and Sol's booster, and to start Red's vaccinations. Red's teeth hadn't been done in years and he proceeded to nearly knock both me and the vet over.
October-
Completed a Prelim dressage test in the school on Solo- only a small acheivement but it means so much to me. I got my clippers!
November-
Started hunting Red! He's a fab little hunter!
December-
Started riding Sol in a hackamore-so far, so good! Hunting tomorrow on the Redster.

IT's long, i know, but i've had qiute a mixed year!
How's everyone elses being?

loads has happened!

January; parents, after about 8 years of nagging, agreed to loan out a horse for me and my two sisters to share. hence loads of excitement! we left the RS (which we'd been at for years, and loved) and started horse hunting. we ended up owning three horses

February; got Jayjay (17 year old dun highland pony gelding) on loan for littlest sister.

March; rescued Ozzie (6 year old bay appaloosa gelding) and Solo (12 year old grey irish sport horse gelding) was bought for my other sister (he arrived on her birthday!)

April; started working Oscar

May; discovered Oz's back problems, got two back ladies out, both gave totally different diagnoses

June; Oscar, after building up proper muscles (he was a skeleton when we got him) started to come sound. Jayjay's owner said she was selling him. we bought him for £1000.

i'll finish that later

Not a lot for me this year...I knackered my back in a good way back in April and have only just started riding again! Normally I would have clocked up 100's miles in pleasure and endurance rides by now...I am megga unfit and have put a stone on through lack of exercise and my horse is podgy and unfit too! Hey ho we are back up and running and will get him fit for next year.

Been a good year, but fairly uneventful riding wise. I started schooling a mare at the start of the year and she is now used for the better riders in the school, so she is earning her keep. My mare was away at stud from may to late august, then put her back into light work.
2 weeks ago got my new horse - 17hh cbxtb hunter, so will be spending my xmas hols playing with him and hacking out my mare

My lad has had a fantastic year. His schooling has been great. Both he & my daughter have come along so well. She affiliated him in April with BSJA & has gone from popping 2'06" - 2'09" fences at local shows to jumping Newcomers now, & going double clear.
'touch wood' he's had no serious injuries & very few vet bills either so all round it's been a good year & we are thoroughly enjoying him.

Been a bit of a year for me really!
January - March: work colleague asked me to help her out with her horse, got my first taste of what it was like to have your own horse.

March: Sadly in Oct 06 my close Aunt died, but in March a cheque for a fairly large amount of money arrived that she'd kindly left me, with instructions to 'buy something for myself'

April: OH says 'go for it' when I broach the subject of buying a horse. The hunt was then on, although I managed to fall off the 4th one I tried and break my nose and finger. After a bit of a confidence crisis due to the fall I decided to look at a horse a few miles down the road who I'd already decided was too big for me at 16.3 - that horse was George!

May: George arrives and I nearly burst with happiness as my dream of 30 years comes true! Also the lady who sold me George agrees to be my instructor and turns out to be brilliant.

July: cracks start to show in the yard I choose and I get very worried that George is not getting the care he deserves, and with some support from HHO peeps I start looking for a new home for him.

Nov: Move to a lovely new yard, and 2 weeks later go to my first ever show and come 4th in the walk/trot test.

Dec: Discover that keeping a horse in the winter is a bit of a challenge, and that mud really does end up everywhere!

I have been so lucky this year, lets hope that 2008 is still a good one.

Not a good one. Started out ok doing an OPN in a borrowed lorry (my ramp went and it took several months to fix).
Won some dressage on my husbands horse so that was good.
From June it all went downhill. My event horse suffered intermittent lameness, then I had a kidney infection that laid me up for a while.
Then in Nov broke my leg when trying a horse out with a view to buy. Not ridden since, and because it was a bad break, wont be back on till about April. My sister had been taking my horse out showjumping though and will continue to event him next year. Said I would pay for her as she cant really afford it and I just love watching him out! Looking forward to a better 2008.
