I always go on the Friday so we've got the whole day and can chill and still feel like we've seen plenty of horse stuff.

If you haven't been in years the shopping will be disappointing! There used to be fabulous bargains but now it's mainly expensive gear for the rider and gin.

I do love going, I wish there were more shows like this.

We bought just the shopping tickets for the Friday so we can have a wonder round the stalls before we head home. I hope we don't see everything on the Thursday.

You stay over? That's a proper mini break. About 2 hour drive for us, it's a long day but just easier to come home.

I think you need to hold off buying basic stuff like brushes for a while then can have a good rummage. Or just go round sampling all the gin and cheese 😂

We're going up Wednesday a d coming back Friday. My friend and I are hitting big birthday milestones this year so doing few things throughout the year to celebrate.

Jut had a look through the list of stall holders and it does look like there are a fair few gin stalls - are they suggesting we all have an issue/relationship with alcohol? 🤣

I'm looking forward to it. Feels like the start of Christmas to me, and I love Christmas.

What are people buying? I like to go with a little list and treat it as a scavenger hunt. I don't need anything at all. Except a bucket. Oh, actually new name plates would be good.

Yes I've just started getting stocking fillers for family as I see stuff in the shops - I think I prefer the run up to Christmas than the event itself.

House of Tweed are there so I'd like a new purse. And then I'm looking to get a nice grooming kit for the horsebox for showing.

We've broken the cost up - booked hotel in November and bought tickets in March so it's not feeling to expensive - I'm not adding it up until we come back or I wont enjoy it or spend any money.

We had tickets for Saturday evening then I decided last week to buy for Friday too so we can have a relaxed day of browsing. We got the front row in the section I chose - feels like it's not going to be very busy.

Anyone know if they're still making a healthy profit? Too many shows going bust lately 😞

I don't think it does make a 'healthy' profit, I think Sandy Anderson does it more for the love of it than anything else. There was talk of it going under during Covid.

Saturday and Sunday normally sell out so I guess that will be a good indicator of how successful this year will be.

Would also be interested in how the shopping is! I’m just over an hour away and deciding whether it’s worth a shopping ticket for this evening…

ETA after being stung for a shopping ticket when they weren’t checking at LIHS I’d also be keen to know if they’re not scanning before the main area 😅

I'm going Saturday with my husband. Love watching the puissance although won't be the same without Guy and Mr Bluesky this year.

I could do with a new pair of country boots and and I always get myself something from lemieux 😁.

Is the tiny handbag rule still in place does anyone know? 🤔

Hopefully not as we’re flying down so I’ve brought a little hold all that will class as hand luggage on the plane for my shopping!

I know there is a bag drop and I think I read there would be a bag search at the door.

So bags are to be no bigger than A4 and to have no more than 2 compartments….

I didn't know about the bag rule, I always take a big shopper with a picnic! My little bag has a million pockets, I think I'll chance my shopper.

I'm going tomorrow with the husband then Sat night with the yard.

What shopping are people after? Is it the stuffed fox holding a drinks tray? I've always fancied him 😆

I've never known them not scan right at the entrance to hoys, then check tickets going into the arena.

Food wise it's usually decent quality sausages, hog roast barm or food truck type greek and burgers. We usually grab an early lunch at weatherspoons on the way in then a sausage ina bun later. I wish they had a nice dessert stall, it's all impressive looking fudge and cakes made of chemicals.

I went yesterday with my DD - front row seats and we had an amazing time!

If you are driving there, pay for your parking in advance. On the day it is £18.95 but pre-booked it is around £12.50

We thought the food was expensive, although there are a couple of Subways and a Weatherpoons etc just outside the hall that were more reasonably priced.

I thought there were more trade stands this year with some good offers (especially on socks! 😂)

As always, there are numerous stands offering alcohol and most were offering free samples 😁

All in all a great day out!

They're scanning at the entrance as I wondered if I could sneak in for shopping while at a work conference and I could not 😅.

Phew, bag policy has been relaxed. You can take a standard bag or rucksack
Yes we have taken a rucksack in everything day with lunch (stolen from hotel breakfast) with no issues. Friends took alcohol in from stables with no issue.
Wednesday they didn't really check tickets to get into top spec arena, but yesterday was stricter. I'd imagine the weekend will be stricter too.

Shopping is OK. But I think is was expecting more although I've not been for a long time so wasn't really sure what to expect. I've still managed to spend a fortune 🤣.

Some really beautiful animals here.

We’re here!

Lots of ticket checking. Staff have all been really nice. I have a tiny shoulder bag and it got searched. Shopping is not bad, LeMieux have 2 stalls… not really anything I desperately need. Bought a Hoys water bottle as it’s 75years.
