Love their stuff but what does this mean? It sounds rather rude to me, but I think I've just got the wrong end of the stick. What does the slogan actually mean before I go buying their lovely t shirt

I took it to mean if a horse doesn't have scope it isn't going to have a hope of winning. I've heard it before but not the "Drop it like it's trot" - it makes no sense to me despite the explanation on the website!

That's exactly how I interpret it. I'm not sure it's a nice thing to be wearing across my front. Shame as I love their stuff - just not too keen on the slogans. (And I also don't get the Drop it Till Its Trot either)

I interpreted it as they are raising money for horses who have owners who are unable to care for them. or they are old, ill or injured. Because they no longer have any 'scope', they have no hope and therefore they need a charity to look after them. Purely my understanding of it, I am happy to be corrected.

That's lovely and a very worthwhile cause. But I do wonder if most people would misinterpret it like I had (above)

“No scope no hope” is a show jumping phrase, I like it, it’s true, your horse has no scope, you’ve got no hope!

“Drop it till it’s trot” is just a play on the phrase “drop it like it’s hot” from the song. Makes a simpleton like me laugh :)

So that reinforces my reasons to not wear it then. I'm just not in those circles. Quite the opposite - most of my friends (and perhaps me too) have happy hackers and aren't worried about having no scope. Not sure I want to wear clothing saying they have no hope, when these adorable little happy hackers actually bring an awful lot of joy. Weird slogan on otherwise fabulous clothes.

I hadn't heard of these before - but there's a shop near me that sells matchy sets with the most hideous expressions on them, e.g. "my cob is a nob" and #**** (I'm sure the forum is going to censor this for me, you'll have to take my word that it is a word for female genitalia beginning with T). Makes me cringe that people would want to go round with that emblazoned on their poor horse. I've had to unfollow them, I just find it in such bad taste. I'm not easily offended, and probably swear too much, but really? Having swear words all over your horse's saddlecloth, fly bonnet etc? Lacks class somewhat!

I think it's also quite a jokey phrase. If you look at the #noscopenohope hashtag on instagram, it's full of people who have talented horses, and using it in an ironic way. I love their stuff, quickly filling my wardrobe up with it.

A lass at my old yard has EVERYTHING emblazoned with 'gob on a cob' in huge white writing, tshirts, hoodies, saddlepads etc. Just in case you miss it on one item of clothing/ tack it's plastered on everything else... makes me cringe a bit

eugh yes sounds similar. just why?! it's not even funny!

I agree entirely. It's just that when you're on a DIY livery yard with leisure riders and happy hackers, it could be taken the wrong way. Think this is aimed at professional riders. I'm trying to find the same black vest but minus the slogan. Shame they don't do the black vest with Two Hearts or Centre Line on if.

Thing is, that's quite funny as she's obv laughing at herself. Fab!

OH HANG ON !!!!!! I think the penny has just dropped !!!! So the No Scope No Hope is aimed at the wearer and isn't a message to others ???? I thought it was a great big "I'm considerably better than you" message. No I get it now. It's mocking yourself ?? (Is it?).
This DEF applies to me then.

Maybe I've lost my sense of humour completely, but I don't really think "no scope no hope" is particularly amusing either - even ironically, or aimed at yourself. it's just... not that clever or witty.

Just checked out the # on insta, I can't believe nearly 20k people are using that hashtag! Still don't find it funny. And certainly wouldn't pay £45 to have it emblazoned across me. Each to their own though - and at least it's not just crass swearing like that awful shop by me!

Jumping on your bandwagon there Archangel #grumpyoldwoman #stuffyoldbagsmate

I think I know what shop you are on about as I see it plastered all over facebook regularly. It's awful and so unclassy. Do people actually buy it????

‘No scope no hope’ has been a little saying on social media for the past few years atleast. It’s a joke... the people aren’t seriously stating that if a horse can’t jump then it’s useless.

I can’t believe people wouldn’t wear a jumper just incase it offends someone else or that it needs to make actual sense. I don’t get offended if I see someone wearing one saying ‘My TB is the best’ or ‘Cobs are the best’. For example the past trend of people wearing ‘Moody mare’ jumpers, it doesn’t mean they think all mares are moody, if anything it’s a little joke on themselves. Gosh! :p

All I see an overpriced sweatshirt *but* from reading the description it’s for a good cause. I wouldn’t wear it as it’s too nice to have horse slobber all over.

The thing is...if you have explain a slogan it doesn't really work does it??!

Do you really want people staring at your chest trying to work out what the flip it's supposed to mean? :D

I have seen these and thought they were horrendous. Some really nasty words thrown about and why you would want to cover your horse with words that also imply genitalia fails me.

I don't know, from memory people seem to "like" the photos and tag friends and think it's funny. I was going to check out that shop but after seeing all that sort of rubbish being put on Facebook every day, it's put me off!

I thought the source was apparent, but... for a play on words to make sense and be funny it actually has to still mean something. Otherwise it's just a pile of words...

I've just checked fb and if its the same company based somewhere in the midlands then I had an awful experience buying something that was faulty off them. I don't recommend!

Interesting! I had no plans to use them anyway but even more so now!
