I know this isn't news but its been prompted by a comment in one of the news threads and I assume that often a lot of the anti-hunt don't go into the hunting forum so not much use in putting it on there. So just a quick poll... for, against or don't care. I'm actually very interested to see if 'the majority' of the forum members are anti as was stated by another member.

Would you like to make the poll clear for everybody please. What sort of hunting are you talking about??

Is there a form of hunting you do approve of? Or is this yet another attempt to derail another persons thread?

Of course there is I hunt all the time as you obviously didnt know. The poll doesnt state what it is actually asking does it?!
Instead of sticking your oar in perhaps you would care to tell us what the actual question is?????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think she just meant hunting in general(asin on a horse;))..does it matter exactly which type of hunting?

Does legal hunting result in a fox dying? If not i would think the op means the foxy type.:)

Both legal and illegal involve the fox dying dont they? The discussion that led to this poll was about the now illegal hunting with packs of hounds which ends up with the fox being torn apart alive. Therefore if the poll doesnt state what sort of hunting it relates to it is all rather pointless me thinks lol

p.s if you only think it means something perhaps dont vote until you know what you are voting for. A bit like May 6th or we could all end up voting for the wrong peolpe couldnt we.

P.s why are you so bloody rude to everyone, fox hunting to me means a fox dying, therefore i am against it, end of! I know my own mind thank you!
ETA RUDE!!!!!!

but you would happily see a lurcher kill a fox ???? or rip it apart when its still alive . but your an expert an squat

No and I have never said so, so why lie?! Would you like to repeat what I ACTUALLY said now about given the choice between a fox being hunted with a pack of hounds or a lurcher?

Anyway, how bloody stupid, i knew perfectly well what i voted for! YOU were the one who was unclear on what type of hunting, hunting is hunting, chasing a fox, killing a fox either way wrong in my eyes.

WTF are you on about. I wasnt being rude to you I was explaining why it was important to know what the vote is about before we vote????

Yes and as i explained to you, i did know YOU didn't! i voted against hunting, hunting be it chasing a fox or killing a fox.
Why have you taken it upon yourself to criticise everyones posts! This is not your thread. You made your points perfectly clear on your own ones. GAH!!!

well SL people who are pro hunt generally want hunting to be legally and people who are anti generally (but not always) want it to be illegal.

It's not rocket science

So you are pro lion hunting, bears, elephants etc etc etc

Dont talk rubbish Giles. Many of us hunt but do so as humanely as possible. Therefore we find hunting with hounds pre ban abhorant!!

Give me one, just one valid reason why farmers cannot be payed to have problem foxes on their land humanely trapped and destroyed?

Its a public thread on a public forum and I choose to post on it. Simples.

Highjack the thread you mean! *sighs* there is always one, you saw the word hunting and your eyes must have bulged out of your head. Fill ya boots, you repeat yourself anyway simples :D

Sorry Scratchline seems quite straightforward to me, I am against hunting - easy. However, I dont think you do the "antis" any favours as you seem to be rather antagonistic to everyone, although from your posts I take it that you disagree with hunting (as in killing an animal with dogs).

Do you think she is stupid or something? I am sire she doesn't just vote randomly. She's against hunting so she voted for that option.

I am more into stag hunting myself.

Stag hunting is the only current system which operates across a wide area and works on the herd as a whole. Leaving management up to individual landowners risks damaging the herd because there is no central regulation over the number killed/gender balance etc.

A key feature of stag hunting is that it enjoys the co operation of a large number of landowners. They leave deer management to the hunt. Even though the hunt kill a relatively small number this is a very important factor as it stops landowners taking deer management into their own hands.

For example landowner A kills 10% - Landowner B kills 10% landowner C kills 10% = 30% of the herd killed.

Deer management is fundamentally different because the animals are not confined to small areas like foxes but exist in herds that move from farm to farm.

It is by no means obvious how to initiate a centralised stalking system and stop landowners taking too many or the wrong deer out. If hunting stopped and no such system were put into its place that the herd would suffer considerable depletion/weakening.

Exmoor and the Quantocks has just about the only truly wild herd of red deer in England (bar the lakes and possibly the new forest) - the lakes consist of massive open spaces like scotland where stalking can work better and the New forest also has a system where landowners co operate.

Scratchline, a hunting poll on HHO. I think it's pretty obvious what sort of hunting they mean..!! You seem to want to pick arguments constantly.
