Attempt some SERIOUS equine shopping but I can't think of anything I NEED!

Since giving up my debit card I have made a real effort not to buy 'stuff'. At the moment (my choice) I transfer money to husbands account and then I get cash from it. This has massively curbed my unnecessary spending by about £250 a month from what we can see so far, but I am itching for a blow out.

Any suggestions? I can't think of anything I want to buy! Can I buy a brown bridle even though I haven't yet got my new brown saddle (two months)? Argh, I want to spend some money. Matchy matchy doesn't work as I don't bandage...

Recommendations please :p

You sound like you're on a one way road to an overdraft.

If you don't need it, don't buy it! If my husband saw a post like this I think he'd pass out.

This is just my opinion though. It's obviously up to you to do what you like with your money.

I didn't say that I didn't have the money to spend :( just said I had been trying to spend less lately. I am easily discouraged though and that might have put my burning desire out (have you heard the phrase 'pissed on my bonfire'?) :)

How about buying something inexpensive so you don't go bust....

..like several spare lead ropes in multiple colours or brushes (in multiple colours....one for evry mood(leadropes and brushes).

...and you just can't do without a numnah that matches your brushing boots!!! :p lol

boots- I'm really addicted to boots- I have a whole box full of them, but my (unbacked!!) horse only uses one set of WW brushing boots!

No boots required for cobby I'm afraid. I am going to an equine boot sale in the morning so that should scratch an itch. I do get a fair bit second hand, last time I came away with a brand new sheet for a fiver!

I wasn't implying that you can't afford it, just that impulsive spending for the sake of spending is not a good habit to get into!

Just my opinion :)

I know :o just nice to have a spree once in a while. You can't only spend what you NEED to spend all of the time surely? I'm impressed if you do though!

I just bought a pair of hind splint boots to match my front splint boots. I don't need hind boots but one day I might and what would you bet when I do they wouldn't make the matching ones anymore?

Is that sensible justification for spending £50 on boots I don't need?

They're so cool though! :o

Buy something you can find that matches something else you've got, that's a reason for "needing" it. :D

Magnetic boots (Bioflow). Thermatex or Cooltex wraps, fab for feathered legs.

I just bought wine cooler wraps, £6 each from eBay in case of injuries, they're the perfect size for cobby legs!

How about some bucket covers, personalised? I yearn for some!

Stock upon bedding?

Get a treat ball, they're the best thing ever!

None of the above cost loads (so you can let's of them!!) :D

You don't need to use bandages to buy some lovely saddlecloths.
I just bought this in green..

Nope I didn't need it, but I love it, and wouldn't life be boring if we only bought things that we actually needed.

Ooh good website, hadn't seen that one before so will have a peruse!

Our new colour is burgundy if anyone can find anything fab. But then the plan is to change tack to brown... Burgundy with brown? Don't do burgundy with gold so that rules out anything with a gold binding...

Do you lunge? Get an equiami? I got mine last week and it's my favourite new bit of kit.

Oh god, you've clearly not stumbled across one of my 'sweet Jesus why the frick won't she lunge' threads. Olive lunges, but when she wants to, so that means she lunges for other people who she can't walk all over, beautifully, and for me she goes on one rein until she has had enough and then refuses :p

So no equi ami for me, but thank you!

Just go for . buy it as this week I have mostly purchased a waterproof fly rug,new bit, pelham roundings ,stock, all of which were defo needed !!!! Currently looking at brushing boots as only have 3 sets and need some for the field.

ER I can't offer you any sensible advice as the woman who popped into a tack shop yesterday to buy a nose net, full cheek bit and new body brush, only to come out with those things PLUS a beautiful pair of outdoor boots that I just do not need, and having agreed to buy a new saddle. Ahem.
In my defence, the saddle is a second Hand cheap n cheerful, the shop have agreed to take mine in and the boots were half price. (nearly).
But still...must be the spring grass!! :D

I spend too much on matchy every month but recently I have splashed out on new head collars, grooming box, lunge lines.
On my horsey shopping list are hay bars, premier equine 3 in 1 turnouts and new thermatex rugs!
Hope this gives you some ideas!!
Also I have been dieting so brought some ridiculously expensive riding outfits that will be worn soon :D

if your looking to splash out, have a look at freejump stirrups. Ive just bought some. They come in a variety of colours ( although i bought black). They are designed to ensure that if you fall off, theres no way your foot can get trapped.

Also bought a new saddle, gorgeous fleecy girth and saddlecloth. Expensive, but a fab day !!

You can never have enough rugs - get on premier equine and go crazy. The horse health website is particularly horrendous at tempting you with luxurious gel half pads or leather headcollars :) I just bought a personalised
whip from old mill with my name and the saltire on it...not needed but it is so cool!

I think I am going with the ridden cob bridle from Fylde - lush 2 inch noseband.... Now, do I take the risk of buying in brown and then not finding a brown saddle.....?

I was going to say if you are DEFINITELY buying a brown saddle, you should get the bridle. But not if you aren't definitely getting the brown saddle sorry.

We are buying a daisy rein and bent leg irons tomorrow, what's the betting we come out with lots of other crap too!

Oh and I am lusting over a brown Micklem bridle and Sprenger bow balance stirrups for me, even thought I only like black tack normally, tried brown bridle on Amber and she looked so lush :o
