I have a little hard backed book, and this little hard backed book is going to terrify you all so badly, in fact you will probably have sleepness nights that I might show your OH's it's contents, in fact you would probably be too scared to look yourselves!!!

I am recording EVERY SINGLE PENNY I am spending on Freddie from the day I have owned him (January)......................

Be afraid!!

Don't do it! Think we would all be petrified to realise what we probably spend on our dobbins a month would quite easily pay for a mortgage on a 2nd home!

Me actually! Am I the only one who thinks this is a good idea (apart from the OP of course :p)?

Ohhhhh go on then, you twisted my arm! It's not too bad guys as he is only 2, and no shod and he's been living out.. but still bad enough!

"You stupid woman"" (said in dodgy French, Allo Allo type accent). If you come anywhere near my OH with it I shall have you banned from the forum!!!(looks for tongue in cheek smiley but cant find it) Speaking as someone who told her (fortunately, blissfully ignorant) OH that when we bought Che "he would need 2 rugs, 1 indoor, 1 outdoor, the tack he comes with will be fine, he wont need lots of stuff, we'll only be hacking!!". Che of course, is a TB and we all know TBs need loads of stuff. This is quite possibly the worst idea I have heard on this forum ! (still cant find the tongue in cheek smiley)

I actually have a really evil sense of humour, so am enjoying torturing you all! Ps you shouldn't threaten me, remember be nice to me and the OH will never need to know!:D

ignorance is bliss ! shhh I just bought a 'project horse' to make a profit on... or so my dad thinks ;) *cough**reaaally not going to keep him and spend 3x what he cost.... :D ;) *

I think that's very cheap! I spend more than that in a month, when I was brave enough to add it all up, with grass livery starting at £270 + feed + wormers + vet/chiro + trim + insurance etc the list goes on it came to the region of £570 a MONTH!

I wish mine were that cheap my 3 are currently costing me 1120 a month! And that's before shoeing, worming, physio, dentist, lessons, wagon etc :-( but to be fair they are on full livery haha

I would hate to add up how much I have spent on mine in 21yrs. I prefer ignorance myself.
Think a horsey version of the credit card ad would be good.
Cost of owning a horse, a fortune.
The joy of ownership, priceless.

Oh I forgot to put in insurance!!!!!! I only pay £50 mth livery, but I work it off, so thought I wouldn't bother adding that..... it will all change winter time and when he gets older and needs shoeing etc... worming was free too for him in Jan! And I work off his instructor too! oh my that sounds rude!! I was very restrained in jan/feb time because I couldn't touch the wild thing!!

I was going to say don't do it, but clearly I'm too late.
So just make sure you hide said book from your OH!!:D

I am currently saving up to buy a horse again after a 10 year break and last time was on our own land with Dads help but now it would be at livery.

So far I have decided I need but full time salary back but keep my part time hours!

Using my husbands own words he used when buying new gadgets for the house against him when asked how much does this all cost "never you mind my dear!"

I think you are madddd but its is really very interesting.

I am always shocked at how many people get horses without realising the financial implications .... and then get in awful muddles. This could be a really interesting reference.

But Mints????? Do you deduct 1p if you eat one yourself?

And I think it would be OK to add a bottle of Gin on the list, after all with a youngster there are times when it is a need not a want!
