I am sorry, posters.

I keep coming back to this thread. OP, in your head what did you think responses to your post would be like? Seriously, I'm fascinated by your thought processes.

lol @ B2B. I cant accurately tell from what you've posted whether you are indeed a bad person for taking the cake and running. You neglected to mention the type, colour, and size of your sofa. Nor do we know where the sofa originated. How old are your cats? Old cats are more likely to fall off sofas are they not? On the whole, however, I suspect that you ARE a bad person, a cake stealing bad person at that

Also, at the end of long posts, if you bothered to read them, sometimes we get cookies/cakes/other nice things and that makes them perfectly worthwhile. Often I take the cake and run without replying, does that make me a bad person?

B2B I will forgive your lack of paragraphs and long text (sadly others on here will not be happy with you for that!), as you make a v gd point re cakes :) I have oft found alot (snicker) of yummy things at the end.

Sometimes ppl in this world need a good ... long ... post ;)

Really surprised by the reactions to my statement, is there really no one that feels the same. Often i will click on to a thread because it looks interesting only to find reams of waffle. So, yes i choose not to read it and look for something else that gets to the point.

I some instances I do agree with you,but there are many posters on here who are erudite, knowledgable and above all highly amusing and I will always read posts, provided they are well written from the first sentence, to abosorb any literary nuances that may be within. The choice kernal may just be a sentence or phrase, sometimes placed at the end of a post much like a punchline, but sometimes casually placed right in the middle of the text so that one needs to delve(or read!) the entire post to find this gem of literary virtuosity.
I will admit at this juncture that I do not have a television and I live in a remote and wild part of Exmoor where the wind howls and fog is a constant and depressing presence. The only other life form on offer in these parts is sheep, so my time spent on here keeps me in touch with a more civilised and cultured part of the world and I thank all who take the time to post at length on here for their trouble and time.
I also marvel many times a day at the speed at which some posters must be able to type. My posts are generally short because a) I do not touch type. (To tell the truth I cannot write in longhand very quickly becasue I have to mouth the words as I write them.) and b) I tend to keep posts short becasue the internet connection out here in the wild and lonely hills is rather slow and very temperamental,so I tend to post quickly while I have the aforementioned connection. The final reason for me keeping my posts quite short is that my spelling is not brilliant and my grammar is probably worse and I know that if I annoy anyone on here in any way they will haul me over the coals for any errors and as a sensitive 'artiste' I would find this very hard to come to terms with. So as you can imagine I type as quickly as I can, check the text several times, post before the connection gets eaten by the sheep and then find the thread has disappeared onto page 3 of NL and my carefully prepared response is left unread by all.
I do hope you took the time to read my response defending your original post.

B-2-B ..... sorry but your post was just tooooooooooo long, tooooooooooo confusing and it had NO PICTURES

Abitodd.........GO GO GO !!!!!!!

I actually like reading long posts sometimes, you may need a lot of information to fully assess the situation. For instance I'm currently sat on the sofa with my legs straight in front of me so my cat can sit comfortably on my knee, whether I am comfortable or not. My cat is black, her sister who is white is sitting precariously on the edge of the back of the other sofa and may fall off soon. My laptop is made by Samsung, and incidentally I really hope I win the lottery soon so I can get the new Samsung S3 phone. Do you have a phone OP? All of this information might be vital to the post in some way. It might not but how are you to know if you don't read the long posts, just because they contain a lot of information doesn't mean it's irrelevant or that the issue is any less important than those in shorter posts. I think if you have a problem with longer posts then perhaps you should stick to other forums since horses are complicated creatures and often require long posts about themselves. SO really your issue should be with horses, not the posters on the forum and then if you don't like horses, you probably shouldn't be here. Also, at the end of long posts, if you bothered to read them, sometimes we get cookies/cakes/other nice things and that makes them perfectly worthwhile. See what I mean!:D

I agree I am sitting in front of the computer with about six windows open reading long and rambling post about everything from dogs to horse to land rovers. For the most part I have no idea what on earth they are talking about, but what the hell, who cares it passes the time. Occasionally we get the chance to go off on one about a particular cause, that makes the evening exciting. Or it does if we manage to be successful, which of course we dont always. An alternative source of excitement is a good argument. I can argue black is white if I am feeling that way out. The ones I have enjoyed today mainly relate to feet. No idea why, just must have felt in the mood for arguing about feet today. I have also made a lot of new friends on the land rover forum, lovely people, completely nuts but then so are we. Unlike B_2_B I dont have a laptop at the moment, its broken so I am sitting in a rather uncomfortable computer chair in very dim light practicing my touch typing as I cant see the keyboard at all. I am also hoping to win the lottery but that could be wishful thinking as I dont buy a ticket. However if I did win I would buy the 2.5 million pound equestrian property I am looking at on Primlocation in between typing this rubbish. One of my horses has developed homicidal tendancies in the last couple of days. It has decided that the puddle on the way into the barn houses dragon, snakes and other horse eating species. In order to avoid having its feet chewed off it is doing 6 foot leaps over said puddle. This would not be a problem if it had a brain in its head, which of course its doesn't. It chooses to forget who pays its livery and cleans out its **** and buys its food, meaning it doesn't look where its going when it is aireborn and invades my personal space. Much as I love the silly creature I much prefer it not to land on my from a great height. So B_2_B I also dont actually like horses much either, which means I probably shouldn't be here typing this ****. How many cakes and cookies do I get for this wonderful unpunctuated piece of pretty good touch typing. I am definately a bad person, but then you knew that already.

Ok well me and black cat are on the 2 seater, white cat is on the 3 seater, both are the same colour - red with varying degrees of cat scratches along the bottom. I don't even know where the sofa originated but I'm going to hazard a guess at DFS cause I think that's where most sofas come from no? The cats are both 14 there were just the two in the litter so we took both but I think we got a duff deal, cause white cat is special needs and is now getting told off cause she moved to lie on the birthday card my mum just wrote out and foolishly left on the sofa (the 3 seater) and it took my mum a few minutes to find it. White cat lies on anything uncomfortable so I don't know why she didn't check under the cat first, she usually does. Anyway, the card is now slightly bent but never mind! I could put a paragraph in here but I prefer not to in this case to create more of an annoyance to OP if she is still reading and hasn't fainted from shock of a fairly long post being posted in reply on her thread about short posts. I fear this might add to me being a bad person but it's ok because I have brownies to offer to everyone that makes up for it. Tomorrow I'm going to the rescue centre I volunteer at, hopefully it doesn't rain. I wonder if the foal will be in a playful mood I'd like to get some action shot photographs and maybe do some work with picking her feet up but she usually gets bored and runs off or bucks at me :p I hope everyone else is doing fun things tomorrow but I expect you are all at work. Now please help yourselves to brownies but you can't have a plate and you have to not get any crumbs on the floor, to make things exciting :)

Sorry B2B your post was a bit long this time so I only managed so skim read it ;) but did I hear someone mention COOKIES ??

Sue12345, I wholeheartedly agree, if you do not have anything to say worth saying, then don't bother posting or starting threads on the subject. ;)

abitodd - stirling effort :D
Rockys Mum - You can have as many cakes as you like for that, it made me laugh :D
shysmum - here is a picture of white cat deciding what she would like to put in her long post for HHO :)

Bernster - yes, cookies or brownies, help yourself :D

Well i liked my little bit of sarcasm :D loving the studious cat, have no pictures but my ginger thug has been terrorising our flump of a springer hanging off his poor neck and screeching at him, poor dog just stood there and his eyes got wider and wider bless him!

OP was there any one post in particular that got you so riled up that you felt the need to make this observation and statement or was it the culmination of many days frustration?

One thing this thread did get me thinking was that I wonder what the longest post ever was on hho and who wrote it?! It must have contained alot

Queenbee. No particular post, certainly not directed at any one member. My statement was a culmination of frustrated surfing. It really was meant as a "is it just me" sort of question. Certainly ruffled a few feathers.

PHEW! I'm glad the white cat could provide some picture relief from all these words. Is that an HB the cat is using? I think the pencil needs sharpening, but a cat can't use a pencil sharpener because they don't have thumbs. Maybe the cat could use a mechanical pencil? No, the picture has raised too many questions in my mind. I hope there won't be a picture of the black cat also. Please let us see the black cat.

I don't think it's just you but you are certainly in the minority. Personally I like to read long posts. Although one of the short and sweet posters on here is amymay, I enjoy her posts too, she will go into detail when asked but never rambles. I quite enjoy a rambler, but then I'm one too!
