Do you ever think something is wrong with your horse, but you cant quite put your finger on it?
Ive had a "feeling" for a week or so about my cob, she has no symptoms to speak off, she is eating well, pooing and peeing as normal etc
She just seems oh i dont know its hard to explain, she just isnt herself? so if i ring the vet what do i say? Should i continue to monitor her? or should i get her blood tested?
Or should i worry when i know have something to worry about? Any thoughts?

Yep, I've had that recently with Charlie, started with him not being himself then progressed to weight/muscle loss, dull coat, looking thoroughly unhappy and being very sensitive about his girth

I had his blood tested thinking that his virus may have come back but they came back clear, Vet now thinks it is more then likely Gastric Ulcers.

I would monitor her for another week or so and see if she improves, if not give the vet a call. It may just be that she is as fed up with the winter as we all are!!

I had this feeling about 5 years ago with my mum's horse (but it was a lameness issue). Everyone thought it was in my head but I knew something was wrong with him. We had several vets and he was nerve blocked and nothing showed up. I stopped competing him and mum got someone else to do it (much to my annoyance and we fell out for a while over it). It turned out it was the start of ringbone.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that you know your horse better than anyone and if you think something is wrong then there most probably is. I'd ask the vet for an MOT and if they find nothing wrong and you still have this feeling then continue to dig, I wish I'd been stronger with my mum and her horse.

Hang on in there. You think there is something amiss and their probably is. It will all become clear with the passage of time! Just tune in and be patient. Discuss with your vet and listen to all suggestions. Feel for you, been in your shoes so many times!

iv got 2 like this at the mo! its getting really frustrating as iv not got a clue what it is. Im just keeping a close eye on them & hoping it will sort its self out, of not vet bill here i come!

Maybe they are all just fed up of this awful winter like us!

I know just what you mean, I once got the vet out because I had ridden my horse a couple of times and she was quiet and well behaved

. I KNEW there had to be something wrong with her ha ha. Everyone told me I was mad (vet laughed too). But there was something wrong, she had a virus. Actually she would have got over it on her own, but hey ho. She was never so sensible to ride ever again (it was the naughty chestnut in my siggy)
