The horses are back at our (rented) field after 3 months at the livery yard and are all really happy and settled.

However, being there has reminded me of last years problems, and a neighbour told me of another.

One of the neighbours is a complete arse. Last year he was using some of the fence posts for target practice for his air rifle - while the horses were in the field. He stopped this when a shot went astray and hit another neighbours greenhouse while her children were playing nearby and she threatened to call the police. He chucked weedkiller over the fence to kill the nettles in MY field, then complained that the horses kept sticking their heads over his fence, which they wouldn't have been able to do at that time had he not killed the nettles. Of course the weedkiller on nettles could have had health implications for the horses too, luckily they were all ok. He told me he was putting razor wire on the top of his fence so the horses would slit their throats open. He has put barbed wire there instead.

Today I was chatting with another neighbour who adores the horses. She was telling me that last summer this arse of a bloke was calling the horses over then jabbing at them with sticks

When neighbour told me this I was quite upset and was ready to go round and speak to this arse. Neighbour stopped me as this bloke is known to the police and has a history of violence and intimidation towards anyone who crosses his path.

I am so pleased that all being well we will be out of there in a few weeks time and I won't have to worry about the horses and deal with this complete and utter arse.

He lives in a big expensive house, drives a flash car and is perfect example of how money can't buy class, or as my nan would say 'you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear'.

Thanks for reading, just needed to get that off my chest!

ETA: Horses are happy there, they stay away from arseholes garden when he is out and the other 3 neighbours keep a really good eye on them.

I don't blame you wanting to move. I expect he just likes winding people up, but I am sure you will sleep easier once you have left. What a nasty little man. Enjoy your pastures new!

Sounds a delightful specimen of a human being! Hope your horses are OK til you move - at least it sounds like the other neighbours are nice and will be vigilant.

Many years ago I kept a horse in a field which backed on to a very expensive housing estate and one lovely resident decided that the barbed wire at the bottom of his garden was an eyesore so chopped it off and threw it over our post and rail. I went down to find my mare hobbled with it around her hind legs. After much shouting he eventually stumped up for the resulting vet bill but was a real pain in the proverbial after that.

You poor thing. What a horrid situation to be in - even temporarily. Thank goodness you've only got to be there a little longer. Let's hope no one else with animals rents the field after you've gone.

People like that 'neighbour' should come with a health warning. Can't believe he was shooting off his air rifle with children and animals in the vacinity. Sounds like he's a complete dullard.

Cripes.... how'd someone with his mentality get the smart house and expensive car? Suppose it's through nothing 'legal'. Flipping typical for the rest of us honest and sane human beings; Struggling to make ends meet and be considerate to our fellow beings. Who says there's any justice in the world?!

Shame the person did not report him. You can shoot and air gun on your own property and over land you have written permission to shoot over. However, the second a pellet travels outside the boundary, you have immediately committed a firearms offence. It does not matter how well 'connected' you are, Magistrates and Judges frown very heavily on such offences.

People like this are arseholes and it makes my blood boil that they seem to be able to ignore the law with total impunity, yet call it into force when anyone so much as farts near them
