I went to see a horse last year that I really liked - I mean *really* liked but due to several small but significant reasons I decided not to buy him.

But he's just been re advertised this year ( 6 months on) and he's still gorgeous - I'm so tempted but shouldn't really but he's so lovely..

Please tell me I don't need another horse!

You don't need another horse.

There you go. Sorted ;) No point talking yourself into buying anything in my view. Out of interest, why is he up for sale again?

What were the significant issues? Are they still significant issues? If so, keep thinking about them...

Might help! Or might not.

Good luck..

He's a bit big - which he still is but hasn't really grown in the last 6 months.... I have an ifor williams 511 and don't want to change to a wagon but could at a push.

My husband was between jobs (he's not now and has a great job) so I was working A LOT. so time was an issue with a baby horse.

He's steel grey( but obviously will get lighter) - which he still is but I've now got a solarium and a horse shower so less of an issue -which was an issue.. but I've come to terms with this and haven't seen anything I like as much in a more sensible colour...

I have 2 kids - but they're at school and nursery now.

If you really don't need another horse, but would love to have this one, can you let one of the others go?

Not really - I have my cob - who is lovely and I don't want to sell him then I have the odds and sods - 2 inherited shetlands and a section A... I have a spare stable tho...

What harm would a phone call do ? :wink3: Judging by your other answers you've already decided you're having him :biggrin3: fate n all that......

So in theory at least are you still looking for a horse?

How old is he, is he likely to grow more, and could you cram him in the trailer if he doesn't?

Could you sell or loan one of the little ones? - as you only have 2 kids but 3 ponies? Might help a little... not that I am trying to persuade you that you need another horse of course!

A spare stable is the least of your considerations in my view. Time, energy and money are much more relevant to looking after all of them!

I'd love to off load the section A - unfortunately he's very sharp so not - a novice's pony and I've not yet been able to find him a jockey - the shetlands aren't off loadable as they were literally inherited and I promised the lady that died that they'd stay with me for ever. (and one is a minature so not really ridable and the other is the useful one... that all the kids in the neighbourhood actually ride... )

I'm so tempted I'm going to sleep on it and hope that he sells before the weekend - If he's still for sale after payday I guess that he'll be moving in to my spare stable... ho hum ...

You weren't going to get him because he was grey and you didn't have a solarium or shower :eek3: I have 2 greys and we get by fine with a hosepipe attached to a tap! His colour is the least of your worries... If you have the time and money then go for it.

My cob is coloured - trust me I know about the work involved which is what put me off...

You dont need another horse blitznbobs.

But lets face it none of us NEEDS even one horse! When was the last time you rode to work on one? ;)

Ring up, research the seller, go and see him, talk it over with your family, do your sums (time & money) go and see him again..... and ..... do what your gut tells you. x

Have a good read of the WWYD thread and consider the horses (and family)you already have! Decisions such as this need very careful thought when you already have so many commitments!

If having another horse is likely to lead to divorce or the actual neglect of your children, then perhaps don't do it. But if no one else will suffer from it and you can afford it, then why not?

I must have something wrong with me then because mine aren't any extra work! I grin and bear the dirt in winter and as long as they scrub up well for shows in summer that's all that matters to me!

I compete all year round... so I have to get the ******* at least semi clean in winter too...
