I had a SJ lesson on my new horse the other day - he is a fab jumper but I have acquired some really awful habits when jumping so it is back to basics for us. My instructor had his little girl with him when teaching - she stays in her pushchair, and is great.

My main bad habit is sitting up too soon when going over the fence, instead of waiting until all 4 feet are on the ground - so my instructor was shouting 'forward' to me as I approached the fence. It was when his little girl started shouting 'forward' at me everytime I cantered towards the fence that I realised a 2 year old was teaching me to ride

Had anyone else had embarrasing things like that? We had a good laugh about it, but was glad not too many people were around at the yard

2 years ago I was having a training session and my trainers two kids and wife were there. I was having a grid session and winston was flying. Mum was videoing and everytime i went over a fence they would go *Yeh yeh YEH* as i jumped each of the 3 fences.
Then for what ever reason winston rolled a pole on the last oxer - the kids went *YEH YEH Ye.... why did that happen?* their mother turn round and said, *oh i dont know* when the older one replied *because they were lazy*

Its always better when its on video isn't it! OH used to do excellent commentaries when videoing me - you got the 'come on, come you, you CAN go clear' soundtrack as I approached the last fence

HAHA!
Well if mum videos youve got her chatting away saying *[****] Ive lost her* and the video films the grass or someone else.
If dad does it he hums the whole time because hes bored. Usually a Rod Stuart track

When YO does it, its *Go on! good girl or ARGHHH* lol

my mums commentory on vids was always less polite and not so encouraging, along the lines of

"for gods sake, sit up"
"legs.................."
"argghhhh, awful hands"

still viewing vids with mates does get me sympathy from having the horsey mum from hell!!!

Edited to say: love you really mum!!

HAHA thats great lol
See mum didnt really know enough to say things like that.

I remember once when dad was videoing at our yards xc - OMG i wet myself listening to it.
When Yard members were going round he would be saying something like oooo there in teh start gate. Ooop horse as stopped, oh and again. OMG now shes walking (she was trotting) dad would be stood next to a fence judge who would say - oh well i m sure they are taking it steady - dad replies - but this is the timed section!!! (thing was horse and rider were already eliminated but dad wanted them to go for it lol)

*sorry this probably wouldnt be funny to an outsider but im cracking up remembering those funny videos lol*

LOL Rachel often sits in the school while I'm lunging or riding Axel and will make little comments, like 'Axeys being lovely today mummy, he's smiling' and one day she said 'look at Axey's face he's crying' when he was being naughty, that made me feel awful though

Once when I was lunging him and I kept saying Walk and a little voice piped up 'he is walking mummy!'
Once she commented on his trot saying it was lovely and it was!!

Not bad from a 3 year old!!
