I was all set to go to a show and was taking a friend along with me, both horses were on trailer ready to go, I had put a head guard up as my mare can be very teritorial of her hay, they were as quiet as lambs, as we set of down the drive way all was good untill we turned the corner and there was a sound of kicking in the back I just shouted "Pack it in" the kicking got worse, I jumped out to see what was going on the trailer was rocking about as my 16.2 was bucking like mad double barelling the back ramp,
I opened the jockey door to find that the back part of the centre partition was on the floor between my horses legs,
People on the yard heard the commotion and came running down to help, I was trying to calm her (the other horse was really good and stayed very quiet) my freind went to undo the pins to lower the back ramp as my mare continually kept Kicking at the ramp, withe the force of her kicking the ramp came down catching a guy on the arm (thank god he was ok)
I managed to unclip my mare as the other horse saw his opportunity to get out and shot backwards and escaped, panicking my mare even more as she tried to turn around to get out, I just shoved her chest as hard as I could so she was clear of the centre pole and she escaped on to the lane, where the others caught her,
I just went into shock and collapsed hyperventilating on the ramp,
thankfully all of us and horses are safe and mirraculously no serious injuries
I spent today walking her on and off the trailer to make sure she was still ok going in there, from now on she will be travelling on her own.
