I have owned my horse for...

Oh very nice I like the mix. Mine were both by Prince Sadik who was pure Crabbet but the mare i lost was out of a Polish, Old English mix and my gelding is a mix of Old English, Egyptian and Polish. Ishara is pure Crabbet but if I could breed from her i'd put her to a Polish stallion but that's not going to happen!

Lovely stories and some real golden oldies!
I have been lucky enough to own my boy for 16 wonderful years. He’s 22 now but is by no means ready to slow down, still enjoying his jumping and now having a go at turning his hoof to dressage! He has been an amazing friend through some really dark times and I owe my life to him.

Thanks Joanna, he was a handsome stallion. I do love Crabbets too, I have often wondered how they compare riding wise to mine

My darling Boo came off the lorry as a lanky, shivering, terrified 3 year old 17 years ago and stayed with me everyday since that cold January day through thick and thin until it was his time back in February. My best friend and life is just not the same anymore without him.A little girls dream come true. Our bond was incredible - my grief just overwhelming.
How lucky are we though to have these animals in our lives and loving reading this thread x

Ishara is very very very very forward going! I get a real buzz out of riding her as she properly reads your mind and you just have to sit on her very quietly and not do too much which has made me a very lazy rider! Sadly she has been in and out of work since a field accident in 2012 and yesterday I made the decision (again) to retire her. I retired her last year but as she didn't want to make babies I gave it one last go but she made it very clear yesterday that ridden work just hurts :-(

I just realised that I meant to say that Prince Sadik was a very handsome stallion!! That is really interesting regarding Ishara , my boy is the same and I love it, except he will literally go anywhere my head is pointed so I have to be careful on the high trails not to look over the edge at the views or he thinks I want to go over!! eek . That is very sad regarding her health Joanna, i hope she is happy in her retirement . xx
