If you are going to fight it and hopefully win it's awfully sad you have to sell your horse
. Can you go to CAB and get advice.
That's reassuring!! Thankyou for that. We will be fighting it but the police have said he only has a week to produce the documents before they issue the penalty.
Dont leave it a week. Tell them what is going on and provide documentation showing you would have been insured if company had not cancelled it.
You will have the cover note and certificate of insurance which was issued when he first took it out. If you keep them informed you could be given longer to sort it out, better than a summons next week.
Sorry to hear this - have read a few of your previous posts (otherwise it's too easy to be judgemental) and see you have had a bad year including your OH having an extremely serious accident that you witnessed.
If selling is your only recourse do your best to find him a good home and maybe it will give you more financial freedom to sort out your life for the better in the long run?
Wishing you all the best

If its the insurance companys mistake then are they not liable for the effects of their mistake? Can your boyfriend get a loan to pay for part livery or taxis due to not having use of a car or to pay the extra car insurance, then claim the cost of that loan off the insurance company?

It's a bit risky that in case the insurance company won't budge and it takes months to resolve? Op, how are they saying that they tried to contact your boyfriend?
He only has three, not six.
Oh god really?! Thats who he's reinsured it with this morning!!! *facepalm*

The manager on the phone initially said they'd tried to phone him, but then changed her mind and said she hadn't.
She then decided that she'd emailed him on the correct address, though no email had come through to his inbox or his junk emails. They hadn't tried to post him anything.
Also, horsesatemymoney, OH is out of work currently due to a bad motorbike accident he had in July. A loan just isnt an option and i wouldnt expect him to pay for MY horses anyway.
But why would the police pull him over for an invalid insurance, must be more to this. but all I can say if you must sell horse find a decent home for him
I'd ditch the OH before I'd sell my horse to pay his debts.
Why does there need to be more to it? No insurance is about as bad as it can get, of course they would pull you over.
Because the only way they would know he had no insurance is if they ran the registration number through their computers.
Why would they do that for no reason. It might have been something as simple as irratic driving or a light out, but there would have been something.

I didn't suggest getting a loan, Sugar and Spice did- I said that it wouldn't be a good idea in case it took ages to resolve. Surely they'd have to produce evidence they actually tried to contact him then? If they can't, blows their argument out of the water?

Definitely seek legal advice. CAB is free.
Chin up toast. Hope you can find a way to keep him, is it that lovely spotty in your avatar?

I apologise, i misread.
