This reads like a rather fine obituary. Which leads me to the rumour that ycbm is actually dead and is not aware of it, so keeps turning up to the HHO Forum. A bit like Bruce Willis in the Sixth Sense, but with more hair and a bit less angry.If people are going to start rumours can't they at least put the effort in to start a good one? I heard YCBM had bought a horse, run away with the circus, escaped the circus in South America and went to live in the jungle, whilst foraging for food found a plant that can cure the common cold/cancer/all know ills, started a new civilisation and her 'I haven't bought a horse honest' horse is now worshiped as a god.
She is also a finalist for the next Turner Prize, an alternative candidate in the next US election, and invented sliced bread

I did actually once hear a rumour that I'd died (really). Many years ago I was bolted with down a main road (proper blind bolt, terrifying). A couple of days later a lady in the village told my mum that she'd heard I'd been killed, and I found out a couple of my friends had heard the same. I had been riding on my own so presume a curtain twitcher had heard/seen it and started the gossip. It was a bizarre thing to happen, not least because I'm pretty sure I'm not dead...

Vampires show up in photos that are taken using modern cameras. The problem was the silver used in old style photography.

Big shortage of vampires, obviously not in season yet, or too much daylight. We did see a couple of dragons flying into the ornate (very knobbly) buttresses of the gothic church, but the little beggars move so fast I couldn't get a picture.

I heard something on the radio yesterday about a rumour the kids TV presenter Dave Benson-Phillips had died back in the 90s. He hadn't but it ruined his career. It was the days before social media so he couldn't make a video to prove he was still alive and when he tried to get the media involved, they all thought it was someone trying to prank them so wouldn't carry it. He was about to go on a tour and all the venues cancelled his bookings. He couldn't work for ages.

That's awful! At least my experience had absolutely zero affect on my career or finances, although I did find it rather unpleasant at the time (I was a young teenager when it happened). It does seem like a particularly unpleasant lie to spread, and whoever started it about Dave Benson Phillips must have known it could harm his career

ETA, I suppose it makes more sense it happened in the 2000s as it would be easier to spread a rumour like that using the internet, and the internet seemed to increase the market for, and supply of, celebrity gossip in general. Poor guy though.
