For the first time since I came off and broke my leg SJ!

Was absolutely sh****ng myself

Silly really as it wasn't a bad fall that broke my leg but the mind works in mysterious ways...

Friends were FAB- set up a set of trotting poles, stuck a tiny jump at the end of them, switched to canter poles and gradually raised the jump so slowly I didn't notice.

Sam has been a complete lunatic jumping with others- was expecting the same today but he was a STAR!!!!!!!!!!!! Not strong AT ALL- did EVERYTHING I asked, faster, slower etc etc.

Ended up feeling quite happy jumping a little straight with a sharp turn into a crosspole.

SO pleased I have finally tackled jumping again and CAN'T WAIT to get going again now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Decided to keep him last weekend

Watched a friend go round an xc course and get decked twice on exactly the type of horse I would be looking at for my next one. As he is SO good in every other way have decided 'better the devil you know' and going to give it another go

That is great news! Glad he behaved himself - sounds like all your flatwork is paying off

Yeah, flatwork will be paying off! Also think we have bonded SO much more since I broke my leg. I have NO idea why that would be? LOL! Very odd but he deffo does look after me now.

Thank you everyone! I'm so excited... can't wait to ride tomorrow, have decided to just pop one or two everytime I ride in between schooling and hacking rather than concentrated jumping sessions.

I knew I'd be ok once I'd actually got over the hurdle of doing it, and I was right! Yay!!!!

Wonderful reading!!!!!!

I am so thrilled for you L.

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. Put a HUGE smile on my face!

Well, do you know, this is one post that I really didn't think I would be reading, but one I am delighted to see!

It wasn't that I doubted you would jump again, but I wasn't sure that Sam would come so good for you. I am so pleased I cannot tell you! I can imagine how brilliant you must be feeling from so many angles. Fabulous.

Well you're braver than me, I still haven't jumped and its been 10 months for me

That's really good........it isn't the fall or injury that's the lasting problem...it's the battered confidence. The experience of jumping him again today is a great confidence giver. It will give you the drive to carry on.

My daughter had a terrible fall, paramedics, blue lights to hospital etc & the lasting damage was to her conficence. It's all history now & she's jumping again without any problems.....you'll be the same ...just take your time & you'll do well...Good Luck
