Red, I’ve just seen your post on another thread. I don’t know how I’ve missed this and I feel so awful to post so late but I am truly devastated for you. I feel like “Mr Red” has been a forum participant in his own right, and I’ve often thought about the way that you’ve described him and smiled at what a wonderful couple you seem to be.

I am so sad to hear of his loss, and I’m so sad that someone as lovely as you has to bear this pain. I wish wish wish there was a magic wand for you. But as per your usual grace, you bear the absolute worst with kindness, openness and resilience.

I wish you every strength in the world, Red.

I knew it, the picture of David and Riggers, I knew he loved him really 😁😍
He would have loved him today...

A 'thing' happened.

I haven't had the interest to ride. Not worried about it at all, neither of my horses are any different after a break, both well mannered.

Today I had booked Joe to come and ride BH. Joe is coming more frequently for a while until I can tempt myself to want to ride.

Today, I got BH ready then thought, soddit, I will bring the pony in and tack him up too. We can ride out on the 40 minute loop.

I would have been as happy on BH as on Rigs, but I'm only 9st7, and I think Joe would be a little heavier. Rigs had loads of inhaler and a surprise meal with Ventipulmin. We rode out. There was grass. We all had a canter. Rigs was in his element. He is ace.

BH goes, "Oh, canter. OK, I can do that," and does, in a calm and mannerly way.

Rigs goes, "Yay, Canter! Woo Hoo. Let me go!" Yet, then he is smooth, easy to pull up etc.

Things are tricky but I am blessed with 2 beautiful horses.

(I bet BH was happy not to have to school too LOL).

I have evidence...

I'm another who has only just seen the updates on this thread following your post on another. I'm so desperately sorry for your loss but I'm blown away by your courage and strength of character.

I'm so glad you were able to go out and enjoy a ride. Animals are so wonderful in tough times.

I’ve just caught up and I, like everyone ahead of me, am in awe of your inner strength Red. If I was still in Epworth I’d be offering as much assistance as you could take! I wish I had a magic wand to relieve your pain even for a short time. You and David will be remembered in my prayers x

Just a little update.

Rigs did a few more rides, with a friend, his asthma is doing OK. With a friend? Yes, because a different friend had a birthday and BH and I went for a ride with her and went to the pub...

And that got me riding again! Pretty much ridden every day since. Just a short one, but we have been in the stubble...

And than, I saw there was a hunt ride... And, I decided to take BH. He hasn't done anything of the sort, it is tomorrow, and I will endeavour to sit tight! Because of the heat, there will now be no hounds. I am excited.

Rigsby... after his few rides, it got really hot, and I decided he is too old to be gallivanting in near 30 degree heat. I have plaited his mane way from his neck to keep him cool. He is being hosed off daily and is managing the heat just fine...

Other than that, the decorators have done the main room (combined kitchen, dining and sitting room) and I have printed some photos that are memories for me. One is David in the Lancaster Bomber, 2 days before he died...

And I did a corner of pictures from when I spent time in America...

Other than that, I popped into work last week and managed fine. I have been cold water swimming 3 X a week, which really raises the spirits. I have also got a builder working for a few weeks, smartening the place up. It feels good.

So, that is my little update.

Good to hear your update Red - the photos are lovely. Great that you're out and about on the horses too.

Good luck with the hunt ride. Sticky jods time??!!

I will let you now tomorrow LOL. BH is generally very laid back, but we do generally hack alone...
