I've posted lately about getting another doglet (a rescue) and the plan had been to start looking after Millie (my JRT) has been spayed - however, for various reasons, i have decided to delay Millie's spay until after her next (2nd) season - reasons realted to my horse and managing her condition mainly - wont bore you - and although she's definitley better, that on top of other things means its the decision i've made.
Anyway - I've had a homecheck from greyhound and passed - however they dont seem to want to start looking for a suitable dog until Millie is 'done' (which in some ways i do understand - but they do only rehome neutered dogs, however that is their decision and i completely respect it) - I've sent them and email and let them know my change of plans, and have asked if they will consider us whiile Millie is 'entire' it'd be great, but understand if not etc etc. havent heard anything ba - i dont want to sound like i'm complaining - i'm really not, they've been fantastic to deal with, and really friendly - its just that now my riding is basically dwindling to very little - having another dog around to occupy me (along with Millie obviously) would be fab.
I've been in contact with a local rescue that comes very highly recommended by a vet friend of mine, they are going to keep me on file as they dont have anything suitable at the moment (another stipulation is that they need to be small furry friendly) and they will let me know if one comes up - but its sooooo difficult to be patient - now i'm set on having a second i'm just desperate to have one...
So if anyone knows of a dog needing a home (i'm determined to rescue & support an organisation), here's my list of 'requirements':
Dog friendly
Cat friendly
Able to be part of an active lifestyle - i run every morning and a long walk at night, as well as in a dog club where we do flyball and have just started agility.
Ideally a dog (although i wont discount a bitch completely)
18months and over ideally (basically i dont want a puppy and already have a 1 year old JRT in the house)
I really wanted a lurcher/whip/gray type but would consider others (I'm sure i'll get shot down, but i'm not keen on staffy types - nothing against them, just not my kind of dog, have known plenty of lovely ones though!)
Ideally medium size (I'd like to avoid teeny tiny - already have one, and would like something a bit bigger - i'm 5'10" and already spend a lot of time crouching down with Millie!)
I dont think thats a particularly specific list of requirements (other than the cat bit), I dont mind dealing with any small issues (but wouldnt consider myself experienced enough to deal with major issues) - anyone who can point me in the direction of this kind of dog let me know please! happy home and space on the sofa awaits!
