Hello peeps!
today i took Ellie and BP - (borrowed Pony - who i am currently looking after) to a local unaff stressage comp. BP was a star, very good boy and we commpleted prelim 12 with 62.8% and 3rd place - i can take absolutely NO credit for this, as i have only been riding him for a couple of weeks, and he is generally a Stressige Diva anyways!
Then onto Prelim 13, and the Beast!! she warmed up nicely, really soft and listening (very chuffed). then took her into the arena and she decided that it was THE most exciting thing to ever have happened to her (obviously expecting jumps to appear)! we stomped up the centre line - at all times trying our best to strike off into canter - we bounced round the circles, got EXTREMELY excited when i had to 'give and retake' my reins
and was generally very very happy. she had moments of ' i wonder what mum would look like if i pulled her arms to gorilla length' but i actually loved it. i had such a good time, as my horse was so happy and full of herself - i actually spent quite a lot of time giggling throughout my test
we ended up on a respectable 57.5 and came about 9th out of 20 odd - with an 8 for our free walk (it really is a life saver that my horse likes stretching!) and some nice comments about the Beastie.
i know it seems like a very minor achievement, but i used to suffer absolutely terrible nerves before dressage (point me at a 3'6 XC course any day
) and i was just so glad that i could enjoy it today! My pony is really a hunting, jumping, galloping around the countryside type of animal and so although today certainly wasnt the best test we have done, i was so glad that we could have a laugh together whilst doing something which really should involve keeping all 4's on the floor!!
Very sorry for the self 'indulgentness' of this post - but i dont do it very often!!
