RIP Suzy, so sorry for you. I am sorry but don't of anyone at the moment with a foster mare, but if I do hear I will put them in touch with you.

very good idea Forester I was thinking of them also as I typed but was unsure whether it was just thoroughbred foals they helped?
They can usually ask for a foster mare or say that a foster one is available during racing and also during the Morning Line their Sat morning racing preview programme.

Firstly I am so sorry for your loss, that is just so terribly sad for you and your foal!

Secondly, the fact that he is now drinking from a bucket, not a bottle, is fabulous!! If you can get orphans on a bucket asap, that's half your battle. If you can't find a foster mare, then a pony companion might be an idea for the foal. A friend of mine last year lost her mare foaling and her foal never took to the bucket idea, so she was stuck bottle feeding - though she did get her to drink cold milk - which was a god send! A neighbour of hers had an 11.2 pony mare that was not needed for riding/companionship, so she was introduced to the filly. This worked wonderfully well and now the filly is strapping yearling!
