... I can leave the house and ride into this.... (taken this evening)

the camera on my phone isn't great, and the photos do nothing to portray the amazing colours of this evening, and there was a huge hedge in the way, but I love this place. As I was coming home from the horses tonight I looked back toward the moors and saw this...

I was born and brought up here, I love it, my horses are happy here, OH has changed from being a city boy to a total bumpkin with living here. It's a beautiful if slightly bleak place at times, but anyone who knows it loves it. This is just a tiny piece of the North York Moors... :) it makes me :) :) every time I see it!

sorry - totally self indulgent post, but I just wanted to share!

I love Yorkshire :D

The sky is a different shade of blue to anywhere else and the air even smells different.

Used to spend my childhood holidays at my Grans in a little village near Knaresbrough and cried when it was time to come home again

Thanks for sharing the photos :D

I used to climb there :D. Did a lot in Scotland and Wales as well, but always loved Yorkshire. Malham Cove :D

I lived in Ripon a couple of times, and Knaresborough as well (parents bought and sold houses as we were growing up).

Trying to remember the names of the places we used to go to/ride near. Brain has gone duh though

i love living in yorkshire too, i live in the centre of harrogate, but my gran's fields are in pateley bridge and it's b.e.a.u.t.i.f.u.l. :D

I'll join the "I love Yorkshire" post. I'd like to live in a slightly more traditional type village with a green, pub and church but I love hacking round where I keep my horses. If these pics work then you'll see a bit of my hack from Sunday...excuse fat cob, he gets no extra food and is in a bare paddock but is still a work in slimming progress.

Jealous, jealous, jealous. My mum lives in Wensleydale and I grew up Near Kirkby moorside/ Helmsley on the other side of the A1. both areas are beautiful, but am now stuck down south in manky old Berkshire, wish i could get back up there and still get same job and pay as i have here. :0(

Wee Brown - Why havn't we met? Star lives in West Bretton, and The Gallops is one of my favourite rides :D :D

I have the exact same pics on my phone LOL

I'm coming over for a canter! Where are you Dreamcometrue? I'm in Otley

Silsden moor Kirsty. I would love to have you come over for a canter. Nobody round me lets their horses feet touch grass when ridden and mine goes so much faster if he has a friend to keep up with!

You must have lovely hacks over your way too.

Thats not fair - you are making me home sick.
I love yorkshire - i was born in Thirsk (well in Northallerton hospital but lived in thirsk).
When my gran and uncle Peter were alive they lived out near stamford bridge / pocklington - the riding was lovely.
Its truely Gods country!

really?! I was born in The Mount in Northallerton and my sister was one of the last ones born there before it closed. It's an old folks home now :( shame to have lost a beautiful maternity hospital like that.

OH and I moved to thirsk just before we got married, and have no intentions of moving, especially when we can watch the racing from our bedroom window!

Blimey I come back to this thread and now feel very homesick :( I adore Yorkshire :D

Gran lived in a tiny village with a green, duckpond and a pub and not much else apart from the church. It is called Nun Monkton - anyone heard of it?

I'm over here in Yorkshire at the moment visiting my son in York, and driving about all over the place like a proper tourist! It is so beautiful, no wonder my son loves it. I'm visiting a fb friend here tomorrow and hoping to get my bum on her cob, also maybe try going somewhere for a hack on the Moors at the weekend. Lucky people who live in Yorkshire!!
