I may have a small problem

I’m not great at horse teeth but all her fronts are in?
I would assume a vet has done the stuff for her passport tho so can’t imagine why he’s aged her at 2
I’ll be upset if she doesn’t get much taller that’s 2 I won’t be able to ride 😞 stil cute tho!! And the grass here will do them world of good

Vets tend to just go off what the owner says for age. If I were you I would be very relieved that she isn’t 2! As that’s an incredibly tough demand on a very young body

Oh no definitely happy for her! I just told her rescue I was happy to take her on but she needed to make 15.1 at least because if I have another horse I can’t ride I’ll be murdered..but I think it’s happened 😅

I'd say she is more likely 3yo. Having a foal so young will have affected her growth just now as she will have put everything into the foal, and keeping herself alive from the sounds of it. Give her 2 years and she will be a lot bigger and broader.

The foal will grow better than the mare as he hasn't had as many restrictions put on him since he left the womb.

Thank you! Really encouraging and makes total sense. Hopefully she recovers well from all she’s been through. Seems lovely leads like a lamb

He looks big already! Can’t tell if he will be beautiful black or my nightmare grey 😂🥰

Best way to get a foal to eat a wormer? He’s still very timid so will eat out of my hand and loves a scratch but is still scared of the headcollar (working slowly with him I’m not just going to throw it on)
Is there some small feed that is safe for him that would hide the wormer?
Mammy is getting wormed too so I’ll give her some feed as well
He didn’t seem overly pushed about turmash so maybe something sweeter?

He’s getting so big!
These two are the champions of putting their legs in weird places when I whip out the camera

That's a lovely type of mare; definitely older than two but still lots of time for her to grow on; she's done the foal well. She looks a little deep in the body to be a trotter, bit more of her than they normally are. Foal is also a cracking sort and will be bigger than her. They've landed on their feet; I hope they appreciate you.
Wormer wise, I'd wait until you can get a headcollar on and then something like Panacur; you don't want anything too strong for a foal for the first summer and they are notorious for turning up their noses at a wormer in the feed so why bother wasting it.
Will look forward to seeing them later.
BTW, if he drops them both before weaning then I'd get them off; it will make life so much easier and the mare will comfort him better as well.

he’s huge already! At 3 months. She string tests to make 15.2 but don’t think she will make it after having little Cosmo
Thank you ❤️🙏🏻
I have bought a wee wormer from a vet as penni has worms so she definitely needs one and likely he has worms then too
Was hoping to sneak a bit into his feed I don’t mind if he doesn’t eat it but want to try!

They will be chopped off as soon as they drop as I am terrified of him getting someone pregnant 😅

Really appreciate your advice he’s my first foal so I’m calling the vet for everything!

Oh also my farrier was saying she looks like she has some section D in her? I don’t know much about them so can’t see it myself if anyone has any opinions

What is the traits of a Welsh? So far seems very calm and beautifully tempered minus the occasional spook/flinch but I put that down to past experiences
They can be fiery and strong willed. I had a welsh d that was a complete knob and then one that was just part knob 😂

Mostly good

Cosmo and penni are doing great!!
Cosmo is about 5 months now and is growing so fast 😍 I believe penni is starting to grow a bit too 🤔
Got a stone stuck in his hoof and was absolutely amazing for the farrier to get it out couldn’t be more proud
Still not a fan of the headcollar so I’m working on it slowly but will stand and let you work at his feet (front only so far) like a little angel 👼🏻

I had a trotter mare who had been bred from too young, age 2-3 maybe. We got her after she had the foal and after she had been put into trotting training. She failed her timing tests they have to undergo in Belgium, not surprisingly as she was still very weak at 6, when we got her, with garbled history. However, she grew till she was 7, and ended up a broad chested, massive chunk of muscle, strong as anything, with terrific endurance. She was also a very good jumper. We just lost her a few weeks ago, I miss her terribly. She was one of those horses that always know what you want, almost before you have thought it. I wish you luck with yours op, I’m sure she will be lovely, and offspring too.

I’m so sorry for your loss ❤️ Your mare was very lucky to end up in such a lovely home with you
