I've had the most stressful morning, well it started off ok, I rode Axey in the school and he was fab I am really pleased with him.
He was tied up on the yard ready to be turned out and I got a sponge and went to wipe his mouth and face where his bit and noseband had been, I do this every time I ride him so it's not new.
Anyway he totally freaked and put his head up and was leaning right back trying to pull away. He was tied to a thin bit of bale string onto the ring but I think because he was leaning back on it it didn't break straight away, if he had suddenly pulled back I'm sure it would have snapped easily.
The string suddenly broke and poor Axey went flying back, sat down like a dog then fell over in a heap outside a stable, he couldn't get his footing and was lying there struggling to get up for what seemed like ages, he eventually managed to get up but then couldn't stand up properly, he was very uncoordinated and wobbley. After a few minutes he looked ok so I walked him on and he looked fine.
On closer inspection he's grazed his right hock and badly grazed his left fetlock and cut his mouth/lip on the inside and outside. He looked very shaken indeed but when I went to bathe the cut on his lip he nearly did the same thing again, but I was ready this time and untied him.
My poor poor pony, I feel so sorry for him, but I have no idea why he did it
I put him out in the field and he just walked off, normally he gallops.
Then I went down to feed the mares and fell over in the mud!
Thanks for listening, cookies if you got this far.
