I rode Grace tonight...

She was so cross with me because I wouldn't let her go

She spent the entire time swishing her tail at me when she tried trotting off (one attempt at halt to canter too) but felt sound if a little heavy in the hand but she has been on box rest all week

I had a short trot in the school to see how she felt, and I have to say it felt strange being back on her and I have only not ridden her for a week... But I was just so pleased she felt sound.

Then, I rode her back up to the yard, over the hard core area and then up the concrete path. There were a few people in the haylage shed so I asked them to watch me trot her (still on board) and she was sound on the hard surface

But, because I gave her head to her and stayed out of the saddle so I could monitor it being on board, she decided to set off in canter when I sat down to ask for walk

Hmmm... we'll see how she is tomorrow after cantering off up the drive

I am not getting my hopes up until she is sound for a week at least... Every so often I thought I could feel something in the arena, but she was really being a pain and doing short steps before trying to job. Hopefully, tomorrow she will be a bit more sane as she has been out tonight for 15 mins!!! I do think that when they have been lame you start imagining it is still there because you look and feel for it so hard!

I know what you mean, I used to find it impossible with Hector after he had been lame, i would always imagine it even when he was sound

Still no improvement, took another urine sample in today which looked a bit better to me, but wasnt much change when it was tested

He was really sore on his side today, almost kicj my shin, which is so unlike him, he has lost alot of his topline, and just generally looks poor. Such a shame, was supposed to be his first dressage comp tomorrow

Oh honey, I am really sorry... It does sound like a kidney infection. Or, I remember when I had a urinary tract infection, the doctors all thought it was appendicitis! Can horses get cystitis???

Aparently they can, but it is very rare, and there is usually an underlying cause. It takes upto 6 weeks to treat in horses though
