And he reminded me of a controlled, calm horse!

Admittedly, he wasn't at all convinced about being anywhere near on the bit, infact, he was avioding it! But that all comes with time [=

Im so pleased with him! He had a lovely canter, but Im not sure he's ever been taught how to do a canter transition. Not a single attempt to buck or rear, or spin etc. Only thing bad he did was spook at the sjs in the corner.

Im so proud of him, and am starting to think Ive found a bargain horse xD

He's so pretty, so glad you found him and really can't wait to see where he is in 6 months time.

I also think you have picked up a lovely bargain horse. :)

You have some interesting buildings going up in the field behind you...

Haha, the one being built is going to be a turkey house, where they get put when hatched, and slaughtered. All the others are chicken or geese houses. There are also pig stys beyond the building being built! Gets the horses everso used to being around animals, especially with the crazy 2 sheepdogs that run and bark at you as you canter round! lol

He looks like a lovely boy, what's his story? (I must have missed it)

:)

Thank you [=

He was bred to race, trained but didnt make 'the grade'. Was then passed onto a Polo home, but his legs grew to long to be able to turn quickly, so was left in a stable for ages. Then he went to the lady who I brought him from, where she fed him up, but didnt do anything other than lunge and hack him, and now here he is! lol

That's brilliant - saw your original video and was so pleased you bought him. I think you have a super horse in the making.

Hehe, I have to say, I agree he's super horsey in the making. Hes such a sweetie xD

He looks so much prettier now he's home with you - perhaps he's grateful for his lovely new home!!!! Lovely to hear you've got off to a good start, well done and let's hope it carries on in this vein, perhaps the new saddle making a heap of difference? x

Yay! :D That's wonderful news.

Do you think that having him in a different saddle has made a big difference? He looks so much more relaxed now. :)

Gosh , after watching the last video of you trying him out , he looks sooo much more relaxed , the last photo is lovely , he's got such a soft trusting eye and floppy eyore ears! Just goes to show what you can do if you provide a safe secure environment and you are consistent in your handling - i'm sure you'll have set-backs from time to time but I'm glad you bought this lovely boy and gave him his life back..

The saddle has made an incredible difference!! Hes a completely different horse! Isn't it sad that something so small made such a difference though =[

Just goes to show everyone why correct fitting tack is important!!
