My friend who I keep my horse with phoned me this morning and she was at the yard bringing our 2 horses in with her brother, for some strange reason he decided to try and jump on Axey and ride him bareback up to the yard.
I've never tried to do this and I'm pleased because he went totally mental! He was spinning, rearing, bucking, even doing levade and capriole, anything to stop this guy getting on him. Friends brother Ali came off him 3 times and then still got back on and Axey then gave up and walked nicely!
They were still laughing when I got there and Ali is now in love with Axey and wants to buy him! He thought it was great

What a nutter!

I would be angry..................it could have so easily ended badly, with the horse getting hurt or the tw*t that kept getting on him could have been hurt (which would have served him right in my book but they would have blamed the horse)!
Trying it once maybe forgiveable but to get on three times when the horse clearly wasn't happy i'd be fuming if it was my horse but it isn't......

I would be fuming, what would have happened if they had broken something? No doubt they'd blame you and your horse. I have never sat on my horse bareback and have no intention of. I am select who I allow to catch her from the field as she is an angel to bring it, yet some people who are scared of horses insist on jerking leadrope every couple of seconds and wonders why a horse gets upset??!!

My friend was there and I'm sure she wouldn't have let anything happen to Axey at all.
I thought it was quite funny that he chucked him off 3 times, serves him right!
But I'm pleased (sort of) that he had the guts to get back on him until he behaved, as I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to.

I would have been very pi**ed off if he had injured my horse, but as they were both ok, I saw the funny side of it.

I'd be fuming as will I'm afraid, the brother tried to get on, then his mate

. Sounds like they had a laugh and were messing around - poor horse

If they think it's ok to do that to someone elses horse, what else would they do whilst you're not there? Not acceptable in my view but each to there own I suppose

My blood would be boiling if someone had the cheek to do that to my horse!
TBH your friend shoudln't have let him do that to him in the first place.
In this day and age someone could do something stupid like that, get hurt and blame it on you and sue you and get away with it!

I to would be very peeved.Doesn't take much to ask permission before hand. If your ok with it then no harm done i suppose.I'm a bit funny with who rides my horses anyway.

the problem you have now is that behaviour is now instilled in your youngster, if they dont like human on top, who was buggering about, chuck them off, and they will fall...from someone who owns a notorious bucker.....who is 12 and should actually know better! - its not something I would be reasonably calm about with a youngster!!

Can't believe you are so cool about it. He would have had a serious b*ll*cking if it were my horse, how dare he.
Lucky for him he didn't get hurt, but shame he didn't.

I can see the funny side, but I would still be very pi**ed off. What happens if he tries it again and seriously hurts himself or your horse?
