i think im an idiot??

My ex-broodmare's tummy looks exactly like your mare's....I don't know if that's a good thing or not, since my mare's not in foal but she's had a few babbies to give her the shape :p

^^ this!!
She looks like she definitely might be to me, BUT she could just have a broodmares shape after having a foalie or so in the past.

I would get the vet if I wasn't sure, but I wouldn't have any aspirations to ride Her this summer lest you be sorely disappointed!!!

vets coming out monday :)

i have big plans for her this year :s

shes 4 so in likely had one before - but having said that after todays revelation..... anything is possible

I dont know but I like her and this has made me giggle :D
I know of horses with that shape that are not pregnant just have poor muscles so not a clue

lol thanks :)

i have been riding/lunging her etc since i have her and i know young horses change

wish in someways i never mentioned it now lol!!! but it will always be at the back of my mind if i dont get her checked out lol!

I wouldn't go by age- I know it's quite common for some breeders to put a mare in foal when she's 2 or 3 so she has a foal before being broken (cant say I agree with putting a 2yo in foal but I know it happens)

Hopefully the vet will bring good news :-)

when i bought my mare i had a pregnancy scare too - she toned in muscles but didnt lose her huge belly, and then she started producing weak milky serum from her teats. If you watched her belly you would see it move about.
Everyone at the yard was convinced she was pregnant so i had the vet out and....no, nothing but fatty mare syndrome!

Everything suggested she should be in foal but she wasnt, she was much fatter than your girls too. I'm not sure tbh.

My 'just weaned a foal in October' semi career broodie doesnt have as convincing a belly as that! Hopefully shes not, but thats a big belly for a mare that doesnt really have any fat anywhere else!

thanks all haha :)

can you all re-assure me im not completely mad??

i was lunging/riding her more in the past 2 months as i want her fitter in view to doing competitions over summer.... i do loads of groundwork etc/ clicker training so if she is preggers i feel really bad lol!!

lets hope its just a fat tum... not convinced but hey ho :)

at one of my previous yards there was a haflinger that was expecting when brought, the owner didnt find out it was expecting until 2 weeks before it dropped.she had, had said horse for months.

she was still hacking and doing fast work 3 times a week for about 3 hours a time.she never objected to her girth or anything. they just thought she was a good doer. even put her on a diet and reduced grazing.everyone was shocked at how she just got on with it and never objected to anything.

obviously felt better than i did with either of my pregnancy's.

good luck.

haha i havent been pregnant so cant imagine how strenuous it can be for them and us!

shes ded girthy and recently got really pissed off at me brushing her armpits.... absolutely fine with me cleaning her back end/under her legs brushing etc - but touch her frount pits and die frankly

shes such a sweet mare - but if shes not expecting - somethin gdefinately up

i also think she has very sensitive skin... as she has spots kinda? like warts some.... on her skin (also why the vet is coming) :)

LOL - my mare got caught unexpectedly very young and produced a lovely chestnut filly - she was just 2 at the time! (before I owned her!)

But since then, every single summer, her belly drops and she always, always looks in foal and every year I worry that an Exmoor stallion has escaped from the moor and got her! :o

But..... when I actually decided to take her to stud, she wouldn't take for love nor money!!

Obviously having one birth put her off for life

Looking forward to what the vet says on Monday ;)

Nope - the plan (at the time) was to breed my next horse but unfortunately she has been lame ever since and the plan has been put on hold!

I really can't tell you if your mare is in foal or not its almost impossible to tell without a vets confirmation especially if she has had a foal before

Looking forward to the updates :)

Ooops :D, sorry but am currently falling about laughing! Did the owner say anything about who the Dad was?
When we accidentally bought an in foal mare (owner swore black was white that the mare was not in foal!) our then farrier said, 'take her shoes off and you will know within the week' so we did. He took her shoes off there and then and within the week she 'grew', did get the vet out, who told us that there was a big colt foal in there, that bit was right, he said black with a white star though and the foal was coloured :D :D :D

Your vet tells you what colour he thinks they're going to be......?!?

This is Mrs ex-broodmare's tummy....I actually think she's rounder than your mare! She had one at 4 and one at 5, so age isn't necessarily an indication that she hasn't had one before although I agree the more likely explanation is that she has one in her tummy right now. OR, she may just be naturally rounded, you never know :)

agree with your friend, there is something very taught about her tummy, looks like a baby belly to me... BOGOF... bargin, congratulations blondie ;)

lol thanks :) on the vid, she looks to me like she has swallowed a hippo :D she was in a foul mood that day, asked her to do her favourite thing in the world (jumping) and she just couldnt be bothered (totally out of character). Mabey and off day - but just ads more "mabeys in my head"

oh.... and thank god im naturally blonde as i have an excuse :D :D

^^i already phoned her previous owner as i was led to believe she had her for 18 months when it was actually 3.... shes meant to be sending me the number of where she got her from as shes not sure if it was colts she was with....... (hence why vet is coming out!)

:)

ets - lol jendie at the last line.... my guess is coloured or palomino :D lol!!

will be extatic is by some miracle she is and its chesnut :P :D lol

She does look a little preggers :o But then so does my retired gelding... Seriously though, I'm afraid that looks to me to be more than a fat belly! :p Congrats if she is, I'm jealous!

haha thanks.

i hope it is a fat belly.... but then i hope she is pregnant so i don tlook like a fool :D:rolleyes::D
