Bob has had a bit of a limp for a couple of days and as im going away for the weekend i thought i ought to get it checked out, wouldnt be fair to leave him with someone without making sure hes ok.

Anyway, not only did Bob drag ME into the vets.....i had to DRAG him out!
Sure it will all change once he has been there to get his bits chopped off!

Jack loves the vets....however that might be because my mum's friend is the head vet nurse who gives him sweeties when he's good (or just plain because) and all the receptionists give him cuddles

Oh and to weight him (which we do regularly) we have to bribe him with sweeties to get on the scary scales......vets = food and cuddles in his head.

Thats fab, I hate dogs being dragged into the vets looking fearfull. Hope Bob is okay.

My vets do a social thing to help puppys get used to the vets - they basically get used to being examined, get lots of cuddles and lots of treats on a regular basis. Therefore my 2 now love the vets, even the 1 who broke his leg and had to go in every other day for dressing changes - he still bounced in on 3 legs!

Mine are all fine at the vets. They have been known to jump up at the receptionists counter.

Buffy has had loads of treatment but she still drages me into the consulting room.

We stop by the vets every morning on our walk because Abe was very scared the first time.
Now he happily trots in like he owns the place. Everyone there loves him and he knows exactly where to go to find the food.

I can't emphasise how much Stella loves going to the vet. The three receptionists make a fuss of her, and the vets/techs bring their dogs to work, meaning there are six or seven dogs wandering about the place. I also have to drag her back onto the street.

My old GSD x collie absolutely HATED the vets. He would sit in the waiting room shaking like a leaf. I felt so awful taking him for his vaccinations.
Even though I was absolutely devastated when he died, I was thankful that he died peacefully and I didn't have to take him to the vets to be pts.
I think vets make a bit more effort these days to be nice to their patients! Purdey got a bit of biscuit while she had her first vaccination - she'll happily go back there next week I'm sure.

Amy went to the vets for her 2nd vaccination today, and enthusiastically jumped up at the (male) vet wagging her tail ...... I didnt look too closely but I think she managed to just about avoid the more sensitive areas

She thought it was all great fun - cats in baskets to play with, other dogs to wag her tail at, lots of people to give her fuss

Nowadays my vet clinic gives the advice that puppy buyers should look at going to the vets just like any other socialization training. On a day when you don't really need to go to vets, take your puppy there, have a look around and sit down for maybe 15 minutes and then go home again, so that their puppies gets used to being there without anything ''bad'' happening.

I've never had any problems with my dogs when going to the vets, though I try to fix so that I can sit and wait on my dogs or cats if they need to stay for a GA or similar and while sitting in the waiting room waiting for my dog/cat, besides the usual normal dogs, I have seen everything from how people comes in dragging their dogs to how a vet nurse follows the owner to the door, waits at the door while owner gets their dog from the car, by the sound of it drags the dog to the door, hands over the lead to the nurse who then drags the dog to a consulting room. Sometimes accompanied by sounds as if the dogs struggles for their life already in the door.

It makes me really appreciate my dogs, that (this far) happily walks into the vets no matter what have happened last time they where there (I'm sure my now late first Norwegian Buhund viewed all vets and vet nurses as potential ''dognappers'', still she happily walked in and when asked weighted herself but otherwise she tried her best to become invisible) and though I've never had any problem with scales before either, the three I have now really loves the scale, they can't wait to get up on it and once up, they sits like a lighted candle, shining with pride over themselves.

Once someone had put a quite small scale on the floor somewhere else at the clinic (to weight cats in a cage on), Jonna spotted it, pulled me over to it, struggled shortly to fit all of herself on it without anything being left on the floor, before sitting there shining with pride as if all lights in the room was on her!

Though I've seen many dogs treat the scale as the devils own device and sometimes I've almost felt ashamed, I mean after seeing people struggle to weight one small dog, sometimes needing help from the staff and there I come, dogs aiming straight for the scale as soon as they enter the waiting room and only struggling with stopping them from weighting themselves all at once.

Our lab loves going to the vet. As soon as he's in the door he makes a beeline for the scales and lies down on them waggin his tail. The lurchers aren't really fussed either way and mine in particular makes it clear he's doesn't like the low cal/fat dog treats they have, only cheese or sausage is good enough for him

.

The yorkie hates it so much we don't take him anymore. He poos all down himself and usually has a fit that evening from the stress so he hasn't had his annual vaccs the last few years (he's 11 and rarely leaves the house anyway).

My collie detests going to the vets with such passion that we now have to park the car in a different place each time and she generally goes in on her back. The vets are lovely and often treat her in the carpark if at all possible.

Now the Rottie is in love with the vets - he sees them as one big treat and fuss session and my god he loves his vaccinations as that means extra fuss.

Its amazing the difference between them really

Henry loves and adores the vets (helps that he get picked up and cuddled, fed biccies and generally spoilt rotten the whole time he's there!). I really thought his tummy op last year would put him off, but no, going into the vets is now one of the few places I cannot get him to heel

Barney, bless him, hated it and widdled every time. Except the last time - he was quite chilled on that trip but I think he was a bit out of it after he'd had a little fit on the way there

Oh bugger, I'm off again thinking about it

Pup used to love the vets until her spay went wrong a couple of weeks ago and numpty vet attempted to staple her wound back together, that had originally been stitched with one continuous stitch (cue it all unravelling). She goes back tomorrow to have her stitches out and she still wont let anyone near her belly poor thing.
