Ok, so I knew it was going to be bad, but it was meant to be a bit dire here yesterday and we had blue skies and high temperatures, so complacancy (sp) set in.
Went to feed the horses and found No Longer Skinny Minnie shivering. Not much, and not all the time, but shivering. And it was freezing up there. I forgot it is usually ten times worse up there than it is at home
Because of the wind I couldn't catch her to put her rug on, and as I feed off the ground and the hay was blowing all over I decided to open up the stable (hay store) and let No Longer Skinny Minnie and Fat Lad help themselves. I am hoping that two of them in there, plus the hay will create a lovely warm atmosphere in which she can dry out and get warm.
I feel really really bad. I should have kept a better eye on the weather forecast
They do also have a field shelter, but don't go in it often. It is actually relatively mild out of the rain and the bitter wind, so hopefully she will be fine. She will be fine, won't she?
