Lets all embrace the times and flashback to our favorite rounds (jump, dressage, xc, or something else) that we have videos or pics of and share those here.

Make sure to give a brief introduction about what it is, who you're on, when it's from and why you love it so much.

Boredom can be fun.... So lets share some footage!!

(I am not including one from my own stuff because you've already been exposed to hours of boring videos!!!!)

Great idea for a post!
I've chosen a picture from Highclere Intermediate with my wonderful little Moon. She is only 15.1 and this was at her upper limit, but I just love how hard she is trying for me here, It's not a beautiful or stylish picture, but it sums her up.

I have two which I alternate as my avatars.

This was Tetley at Storeton Hall jumping one of the most daunting fences that we did in our eventing career. (It still makes me smile that BE call this a novice fence ? ) He had a back as long as a bus and wasn't made for the job, but he had the heart of a lion. I love it because I broke and trained him myself and because he was the sweetest horse I've ever known.

And this was Radar on one of the best drag hunt days I ever did. I love it because it reminds me of the adrenaline rush.

Not a very interesting photo but the one with the most emotion for me and therefore a favourite. My last event, before he broke, on the horse that gave me so much fun and experience eventing . I’m laughing because we were having the most fun XC ever and he was just being an absolute pleasure. The photographer nabbed this as we were galloping up a hill after a trakehner. I had no idea they were there so seeing it after was an amazing surprise.

Skylla hasn’t had many outings yet, but I was chuffed with this round as she was so brave for me. I was freaking out a little at how big the jumps looked, then a woman in the warmup kept putting the practise fences up as I was trying to jump them so we went into the ring so flustered! Skylla after a wobbly first fence just pulled her socks up and flew ☺️

Great idea for a thread . I’ve had a nostalgia trip so have uploaded a few...nothing exciting compared to others photos! In chronological order:
My childhood pony Beauty (rip). Green 6 year old pony and green ex RS rider....we didn’t set the scoreboard alight! pony club dressage
A0BD1AE6-0D60-4E68-A616-41A76B3662D5.jpeg
My horse of a lifetime Khami (rip). I loved that horse so much! Fantastic schoolmaster. Local show.

Ex racer, known on here as Retired Mare. Pony club ODE. By some fluke we were in the lead after Dr and a clear SJ. XC normally her best phase, but in the excitement she blew a fuse, went around XC at a rather uncontrolled gallop then screeched to a halt at a ditch ..... oh well I think we came 3rd overall!

A schoolmaster I was very lucky to loan. BE90 Cumwhinton.

Finally, Mr H! An 85cm unaffiliated comp over jumps from a be90 course at Warwick Hall. My lower leg position hasn’t improved ?...

Doodle was just a dream to take out, a friend pushed us to try the bigger shows and it really gave me the confidence to just give it a go and not care what people think (I came to horse owning as a riding school kid, so it was all new to me and I didn't have family knowledge or experience to give us a leg up in knowing what we should be doing).

I took her to a local agricultural show and she won .

We also did Cheshire show and came second in the PBA's, she beat a horse 10 years younger than her at the time, and met her son who was doing the veteran classes too (albeit the age class below!).

She also qualified for the Cherif Champs every year we tried, though my favourite was the year I bust my collarbone, hadn't sat on her for 5 weeks, took her anyway and she came reserve in-hand champ (she was a bit naughty for the ride judge in the ridden lol).

Every show out with her was a joy, I'm not sure I'll ever have another like her x

This was a nice excuse for a trip down memory lane. Some of my eventing videos have vanished as my youtube account got hacked (long and irritating story) but I still have a few of my favourites :) rest are all on a disc somewhere. Sharing videos because nearly all my pics are pro pics. Sorry about the quality, it was an age ago now!

These are all Millie, dear old Millie, she was a super fun horse.
First time Novice SJ started to feel easy :) I loved riding at Belmont, it was a big bold Eric Winter course on the XC but always rode really well.

Favourite XC course to ride, felt like we had hit the big time riding at Barbury ;)

Favourite eventing days of all, long format autumn eventing at Aldon
warp speed steeplechasing (slight detour at the end as I went the wrong day down the string :p) also 'scuse the language from my cameraman!

Geez I don't know.

I'm married to a photographer after dating 2 equine photographers before him. (VERY odd but true.) So I have a lot of great pics but I don't know that I have many favorites.

Ok a couple from the archives: This is bad... I've got literally 2 dozen pics I just saved to share.

LOL

SOOoooo I'm just going to share an album. That way anyone who wants to look can. And I'm not killing the bandwidth on the forum!!!

Ok here's the album link:

I am only posting the one pic of Cudo that hangs on the wall (currently).

This was when we went to Ky and won an open 1.30m speed class.

I won't be so tacky as to list off the esteemed riders that I bested....but I did beat some GOOD riders. :)

I missed your eventing days ( I wasn't on hho then) You and Millie look great.
I've done the string thing too. I could feel the beast thinking "ffs just sit down and let me get on with it" :p

Hehe she was off for another lap ? fortunately phase c which follows the steeplechase is long and the speed is slow so it didn't cause any issues ?

@BunnyDog that little palomino ?

Max! He's a star. Sadly he was injured while he was out on loan. It may take a year or more to get him back to right. We're hoping that we can get him where he can be ridden and jumped again but won't know for a while. Right now time and rest are hopefully doing their best. Anyway you cut it we'll do right by him. My farm neighbors have offered him a home if he becomes a pasture pet. But we'll see.

Thanks. I loved riding him.

Em,

Love this thread - what a great idea :) So many cool combinations on here - and seeing all these photos makes me excited to get back out there again!

Here are mine:

This is Scruples - a horse I loaned from where I worked. He was amazing and taught me how to really ride - he's about 26 years old in this photo and he had such a contagious lust for life and as a rider, made you feel like you could achieve anything! This photo is from a hunter trial back in about 2006, my first ever time going XC (hadn't even been to a XC course before this!) but he whizzed me round and if I didn't jump the wrong fence in the timed section, we'd have won!
Scrups.jpg

Next up is this photo of Sky and I - Sky has certain venues that he likes, and Frickley Park is one of them! I was worried about this course (it is the arena eventing) as he can be quite nappy and we'd not done anything like this together before but I knew whilst warming him up that he felt different and really up for it - and he was! He literally lept into the arena and jumped around the course like he'd done it 10000 times before, no silly business. It was what we both needed as he'd recently got into a habit of putting in the odd stop. It made me realise that he much prefers grass to surface, and solid fences to show jumps... and I think so do i! I wish so much that I had the funds to event him properly.

Last, but by no means least, this is one of my favourite photos of Maldwyn - doing his most favourite thing. This was the Highmoor Bloodhound's closing meet last year at Sledmere House and it was a lovely day. Sadly I also realised how fragile he was that day and he didn't come home sound but after a year off we have now just began trotting :D

I probably won't take him again, or if do, he would do short days and stay in the slow group to keep him safe (much to his dismay!) Or even just the odd morning cubbing.

I love this photo because we are both absolutely loving life - his fitness was better than it had ever been and he felt amazing!

Ooh that reminds me - my one and only proper video, a teeny tiny course but a lovely sunny day (despite the handbrake being on during the first half until we turned for home!). Me doing a fine exhibition of the funky flappy chicken ? not stylish by any means!

Does this link work?

OK I have dug into the video archives for this ...

1993 My first 1* Long format Three Day Event. I finished 7th out of 33 horses on my 15 hand chestnut mare. She was a 6 yr old here.

First Inspection:

Steeplechase:

Xc:

There's no footage of the 2nd inspection or show jumping because the guys (Hippies and weed smokers) from the video company got into a fight with the very posh hunt club members who put on this event. As such they were kicked off the grounds after xc totally. Bummer.

A couple things...."Genie" was small but had a good sized stride. She also was likely a bit overfit which was her riders fault for reading books at the time about how much fitness a good sized horse(16.2+) should have before doing a 3 day. Our last set of conditioning she was trotting for 50 mins straight over some serious hills. And she would jog 40 mins straight over the same hills before doing 3 7 minute gallops on the same enormous hills. And she was nearly 1/3rd smaller than the horse these amounts were designed for. I mention this because....you'll see that she ran off with me pretty good. LOL.

We only had a french link snaffle on that day and it wasn't quite enough. Later in her career she was evented by a friend who used a Happy Mouth American Gag and things improved. Later than that after I had side tracked and run her in some point to points, then she was able to go back to the french link. But that's mostly because I was galloping race horses then and understood better how to use my body to rate speed instead of my hands.

Em
