I've just sold (about 2 weeks ago) my ideal impala pro 17.5 inch, mw on facebook market place. It was 10 years old, well used but also well looked after. I got £750 plus £20 postage. It took a while to sell but I just hung in there!
Out of interest did you manage to send it for £20 and did that include £750 of cover?

Nothing seems to be selling, Ive got 2 turnout rugs for sale all washed and proofed and ready to go but had no interest. It seems the market is very slow at the moment.

I would say that IME it is easier to sell via a saddle fitter as then potential purchasers have the confidence that it (probably!) does fit their horse. I've got a decent Jeffries Falcon for sale for cheap in a local tack shop ATM and haven't had any luck getting it sold.[/QUOTE]

What size is it and where in N-Yorks are you (or which tack shop is it?), please?

Same here. It seems to be a relatively recent problem where full size saddle pads are cut too meanly for 17.5 saddles, but the extra full are too big.
My son the horse vet tells me matchy matchy/latest season’s must have colour can and is causing issues for horses when being seen to have it is more important than fit. I always buy extra large numnahs. Not bothered how much excess is visible as long as the saddle is not sitting on any seams/trims.

I think it does for that price with parcel force I sent a £350 saddle a few months back and that cost £16 with insurance to that amount.

I will only send saddles parcel force never had an issue and they get there quick as well.

I've had people refuse to by a decent sheepskin lined numnah because they won't be able to use their matchy matchy, even when the horse is crying out for a therapeutic pad.

I find the le mieux stuff all comes up small in general I have Arab's and they needed full masks and the cob ears are too small for them and they are considered small horses, I don't use the pads but I ride my friends horse that has the dressage pads and they fit him ok but she said the jump gp ones are a bit of an odd shape.

I do like the clothes though especially the t shirts and I have a few of the fitted jackets which I love.

Thats terrible this is the reason I won't use them both mine have the nuumed wool shim pads have used them for years, one of my horses has taken real offence to some pads before I started using them so I just won't change now.

But you still could put a therapeutic pad between the numnah and saddle and not really see it, that's what I have done in the past so I can still use the nuumed shim pad.

I find that a sheepskin half pad under a wide saddle can just be too much, too much to try and get lined up, and too much to stay stable, so for the way I fit I much prefer a half lined pad. Also, if you're going to use sheepskin, then it's shame not to have it against the horses's skin. The Invictus is a different matter and it's nice to have another option. Mind you many matchy matchy people wouldn't be getting me out in the first place as I don't do big name brands

I’ve used Nuumed half-lined numnahs for years. Goodness only knows how many times they have been brushed and washed and they‘re still good as new. I have a lovely white sidesaddle one.

Mine too I have some that are 12 years old and they are just starting to wear where the girth sits, I give them a good brush regularly and they are washed in melp wash and come up like new.

With Nuumed just watch out for the thickening at the back caused by horse hair working in through the wool fleece. Melp from Mattes is absolutely brilliant on them though, that's for sure. Just a shame that there's no way round the horse hair issue that I've found.

Hi teacups, from memory it's a 17" WW, but it comes up really very wide - too wide for my horse or anyone I know! It's currently with a tack shop in Driffield, but I'm up near Kirkbymoorside - drop me a PM if it sounds like it might be any good to you.

ETA, yes sorry for hijacking.

I was looking at the invictus pads a few days ago they do look interesting, do you put them on the skin ?

I also agree I like the sheep or wool on the skin as well so I would always put a pad in between on the occasion I have needed to

I must add, I sold my saddles with two saddlers at the opposite end of the country from me. I tried personal sales but absolutely full of time wasters. I even had someone buy my Ideal Ramsay and then claim it was the wrong seat size- I made a post on that. Thankfully she sent the saddle back. I’ve heard horror stories.

A lot of saddle fitters round here are only really interested in adjustable saddles (as that's what people want) or there's one who only wants top of the range premium saddles in perfect condition.

I'm also a bit wary after a bad experience where I gave a saddle to a saddle fitter to sell for me and never saw it again. He'd come to fit a saddle for someone and also checked someone else's. He was from Kent, not local to Herts.

After a reasonable amount of time I tried calling and emailing to see what was going on and offering to take it back if he didn't think it would sell and got completely ignored

The people who used him moved off the yard so he didn't visit again.

I was a bit naive, I should have got some sort of receipt but he was s reputable fitter used regularly by other people.

I’ve just looked at my two Ideals, I don’t have anything to ride and tbh my riding days are quite possibly over, but the Grandee is so comfortable, I just love it. The Jessica though is not suitable for my hips these days so I guess I need to sell it.

I have the Invictus, I use it between the saddle and the saddlepad, I don't think there would be any particular benefit to have it directly on the skin and it would possibly collect hairs. It is very thin so I have used it on top of a semi-wool lined Nuumed pad once, the horse seemed to like the combination. Otherwise I just use it with a regular saddlepad.

It's soft and squishy, a bit like a gel foam combination. It didn't look much when it arrived as it is quite thin so I layed the pad on the table, put my hand underneath and hit it with my fist and I could barely feel anything, I tried again without the pad and it hurt, so it passed my very basic testing of shock proofing.

I’m tempted to try the saddle bank to see what they would offer for my barnsby VSD as I could take it there . No help to you I’m afraid, but they do seem to have a good selection of saddles
