I have two International Event, one VSD and two Jessica saddles and I absolutely love them and would recommend Ideal saddles as they are so comfortable and mould to the horses very quicky.
Only ever had a GP for jumping before and I really noticed the difference, much nicer to jump in. Had it about 2 years now and still looks like new. The only thing I don't like is that the thigh blocks velcro on, and I found they fell off after a bit. I've just taken them off now, don't really notice any more, but I did think about getting them sewn on.
i've got the Impala, love it.
umm, PinkHorsey, Ideal don't make saddles for anyone else as far as i'm aware, so it isn't a case of "just paying for the name". it's not like buying Weetabix or Tesco's own!
also, for made-to-measure British saddles they are very reasonable imho, a lot lot cheaper than Albion and various other makes. i paid less than £1000 for my Impala, made exactly to my specs, with specific leathers, seat padding (extra!) extra soft knee rolls, extra forward cut, serge lining, white wool stuffing. can't fault them.

Same as ^^^ but I've had mine 11 years, used it to break Crystal in, tazz and Jack have both jumped in it, it's been great and still in very good condition. It's so comfy and very easy tp ride in
I have an Ideal International Event, made to measure for horse with the spec I wanted, it's a great saddle, really comfortable, took very little time to break in and looks like new three years on. I'd definitely recommend them.
I have an ideal ramsey that was made specifically for my awkward shape cob, it has all sorts of extra specially for him and cost no more than an off the shelf Ideal. I personally don't think they are expensive for what you get - a quality saddle that fits you and your horse and if looked after will be around for years and years to come
I have International Event and Jessica dressage, and love them both. Also very highly recommended by my very good saddle fitter. Personally I think they are very reasonably priced.
Yeah i had the international event .. and loved it! it gives you security in your seat yet doesnt restrict you when your jumping
. then four months after i bought it my horse decided to fall on a road and trash it .. poor baby (the horse and the saddle)! .. its ok tho .. we replaced it with the jeffries falcon hawk event - highly recommended
Im afraid i am the odd one out lol. Probably just my experience but i have an ideal event saddle which is lovely but i just find the seat too huge for me and i feel very lost in it. Ive only used it a handful of times and now seriously want to sell it on. I'm afraid im an albion convert lol.
I have sat in a few Ideal event saddles and one of the horses at work has a new Impala - I love them all! I find Albions incredibly uncomfortable and the Ideals are just so comfy to sit in. I've never sat in an Ideal dressage saddle but can imagine they'd be just as lovely. The Impala I found a bit odd at first as the pommel is set quite far back, so as I rise I almost sit on top of it! Same comment came from the owner. I've got used to it now though and it is incredibly comfortable.
If I bought a new horse I'd have to either get a Wow saddle or an Ideal
i have an ideal gp saddle, got it sept last year AND I LOVE IT!! It is soooo comfy and anyone who has the pleasure of sitting i it always comments on it
I have a new, Ideal Suzannah 1650 dressage saddle with suede seat and knee rolls, my horse goes like a dream in it, he loves it compared to my old saddle! I think they are very reasonable price wise. But from past experience I would never buy a saddle without a back specialist - and I have found a brilliant saddler - so would never buy a saddle from anyone else.
I disagree... With Ideal you get a fantastic saddle which comes made to measure if need be (mine was) at no extra cost and at £1000 it was in my eyes cheap for what you get. I love mine waited 8 weeks but its so worth it
