What would you be doing with your lives (and money)

One thing i know, i would be going on holiday at least once a year, if not more. :D

Your turn, how would your lives be different.

I would now hopefully be a fully qualified teacher earning a good wage instead of having 3 jobs and always being poor :p

I left school at 16 so I could get a job and a horse!

Would I change my decision..........hell no :D :D
(although I am hopefully going back to 'School' in September age 24  )

Good for you, 3Beasties!

I definitely would like to abroad somewhere hot and just enjoy lying reading my book and not having to do anything else. Haven't been abroad for 16 years, so hoping 2011 may be my lucky year!

I don't technically have my own horse but I spend too much on them anyway so I figured that counts ;-)

I'd probably spend more time going out with my friends, and to be fair I'd probably waste more money because I'd have nothing to spend it on! I don't regret a single minute/penny

What is this state of not having horses of which you speak? :D :D Would still have the job I have, but would have spare cash. Would not have most of the friends I have, the social life would be very different. Would live in a different house, not sharing house with sister (we bought this place with land for the horses). However have ridden for most of my life and have had horses since I was a teenager, so find it almost impossible to imagine. :D

Several holidays abroad each year, I wouldn't have to work at all and would still be ok financially instead of the always skint that I am now BUT I wouldn't actually want to change it. Whilst the winter makes it such hard work with so many animals to care for (including the poultry in that too) the last few months have been lovely. We have been able to spend a lot of time at the yard just playing with them, something we hadn't really been able to do since moving back to a livery yard almost two years ago. I didn't realise how much I missed it and now the weather is getting better I am really looking forward to getting some riding in. They are worth every penny!

Having lost my gorgeous boy almost a month ago, I definitely know my answer to this - I am doing absolutely nothing! I'm home from uni for four weeks for Easter and I have absolutely nothing to fill my days! My friends are all still at their respective uni's so I've no-one to socialise with, I can't get a job for such a short time, and there's only so much riding I can do on other people's horses without completely taking advantage. I am utterly bored and never thought it was possible to miss poo-picking.

Sorry to hijack a light-hearted thread, but seriously, what do people without horses DO with their time?!

Paint
Travel
Read
Write
Draw
not necessarily in that order :)
.
maybe , finances permitting, help out at horse charity

Sorry to hear that you lost your horse, lurky!! :(

Apart from the holiday thing, i really could'nt think what my life would be like.
I suppose i would spend more time in the garden, but thats a bit of a busmens holiday for me. And you can onley do so much shopping.
Bugger, i'm feeling bored allready just thinking about it. :D

I would be depressed wishing I had horses.

I have my days when I moan and wish I had none, lived in a condo in a city where everything was done for me etc. I know in my heart that if this was my life I would be depressed and wishing I had all this work to do again and my money was going to support it.

I spend all my money on my kids and my animals and I am quite happy with that arrangement. They are what make me fulfilled and not material things for myself. It's so odd but when I buy clothes/toys/things for my kids or things for my animals etc. I actually get a high like I have treated myself :) The same sort of feeling some people get when they go on a shopping spree for things they want.

(although I am hopefully going back to 'School' in September age 24  )

My OH went back to school at age 30 :) He even got into the best university in Wisconsin which was no small task considering he came here from Scotland and had left school there at 16, was 30, lived an hours drive from the school and had a family to support on top of it.

He drives 60 miles each day to school and usually works full time after a full day of classes and then drives 60 miles home to try and do school work with three children and a home to deal with.

You are still so young and have your whole life ahead of you. Go for it! No matter what your age is or how many 18 year olds are around you.

I could sleep after work, have long lie ins,
No need to shower twice a day,
No mucky nails,
No hay or spiders falling out of my hair,
No more high elec. bills for all my washing.
More time for family and friends,
Spare Money!!
I can buy make up (whats that ),
I can go on holidays,
I can decorate my house at last,
I can get a new car,
I can spend time making dinners instead of microwaving,
DId I mention "SPARE MONEY",
More time to spend with my o/h ( not sure about that one).

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:eek::eek:

No horses!!!!!!

Ummmmmmmmm..............

URRRRRRRRRRRR.......

I am practically a horse myself, not sure i'd fit into normal society!!!! :D

Holiday
Clothes for me instead of the neddies.
Makeup

Generally be a bit more of a girl i expect.....

or

I'd be saving up so I could get a horse!!!:D

When I am at uni I don't have horses.

- I look forwards to my once weekly riding lesson and sit constantly thinking about what I want to try improve!

- I spend some of the money saved on horsey books.

- I go out on a saturday night and on't worry about the prospect of an early start the next day.

- I lie in!!

- I can afford shoes (well... if my student loan can stretch to them)

- I don't have shavings in my hair/ poo on my person or dirt under my nails

Life is boring... ;)

I would live in London probably, we have a beautiful house there sitting unused most of the time! I would spend a lot more time abroad at least 6 months of the year and somewhere hot!
I would also have lots of beautiful clothes and more designer handbags. I would have perfect nails and monthly facials. I would have a gym membership, go running in the park.
I would also have children sooner then later rather then putting it off because I want to squeeze more competing in with my horse while he is young and still learning.
I would also be hideously bored and depressed like my OH's ex wife who had the above life (minus the children). My horse is my life, he's all my hopes and dreams wouldn't be me without a horse :).

As I lost my horse in December, I can tell you - I spend a lot more time staying with my OH (he lives at the other side of the country to where horsey was), which is nice :) but I am BORED RIGID. I literally don't know where to put myself most of the time.

I would have got a better job instead of studying horses and having a horsey job. I went back to college in September (age 28) so I can become an accountant. I love it! Interestingly there aren't many 18 year olds, most people are older and fancy a career change and lots more money!!!!

Well, I lost my gorgeous, talented, horse to injury about a year ago :-( I have had horses since I was about 10 years old so for the last 30 years I've been at the yard everyday! It becomes a way of life. I competed a lot so was out most weekends. So this past year has been strange, different, but somehow quite refreshing. Obviously, if I could turn back the clock and still have my special horse, then of course I would. But, as that is not possible, I've managed to fill my time quite well. I do ride a friend's horse twice a week, as well as going to the gym, going out a lot more, done a couple of evening classes at College, taken up photography, and going on holiday a lot more. I am still involved with horses and do fence judging, dressage writing and act as groom for my friends at shows. I also go to quite a few BE events as a spectator as I really enjoy that, although it does make me want to have a go! I've got a list of things I've always wanted to do but never had the time or money to do them. I'm now working my way through that list and thoroughly enjoying myself. I've never had any spare cash, so it is quite novel to have savings in the bank, and still be able to go out and go away as and when I please. I do miss the bond with your own horse, but it is nice not to have the responsibility or financial worries that come with horse ownership. I'm still undecided about getting another horse, I guess only time will tell. :-) So, yes, there is life after horses, but it is quite different.

I'd probably be less fit/more fat/bored and spending money on things like cars/clothes and going out and feeling like there's a great big gap in life!

*shudders* No thanks, if I'm ever without them I'll always be saving for another/loaning one, couldn't bear to be un-horseyfied now! It was bad enough when he was away for 2 weeks so I sympathise with those who are horseless :( *hugs*

i had nearly a year without a horse and i did naf all in that time. It was nice to be able to go on holiday, buy things for me for once and just go places with my oh because we could but i knew it would not be a long term thing.
Did enjoy not having a horse over the winter i have to admit. :D
If i wasnt into horses then i would have a place with my oh, holidays and would prob have my car as my 'hobby', would love to finish modding it.
However as people told me i wasnt quite the same person without a horse i think i will carry on with the life i have now.

No horses...

No battered head.
No broken back.
No cracked arm.
No stressing about what four very different critters are doing.
No seeing the sad look on D1's face when I say that exam study has to come first for the next couple of moths.
No holding D2 in A&E while the docs try to figure out if her kidneys are damaged (pony dumped, then stood on her).
No chapped hands/chipped fingernails/low bank balance.
No heartache.
No tears.

No feeling my heart sing when I see our herd run to us.
No amazing joy when the Dizzy one let's me share her wings.
No feeling of such closeness with such a big creature, that will walk slowly with me, no head collar, to the field.
No giggling my head off at some antic or other.
No joy at seeing D1 grinning with pure happiness.
No happy contentment at seeing D2 sitting in LL's stable, her reading, him stood next to her, his droopy bottom lip touching her knee.

I can basically answer this as I haven't owned horses for a few years now.

Can't really say I have more money, because the only reason I've not had one is a lack of money really - and I would never get one if it would make me completely skint, as I like to live fairly within my means.

I've been too busy for the last year working in London, but now I am moving and will be working normal hours outside London, I will notice the time thing a lot more. I don't really know what to do with my evenings and weekends when I'm not riding - too much time to fill.

Have lots of holidays, days out and lie ins! Probably get my hair done and possibly stop biting my nails as they'd be able to grow!!
