...what would you want to happen to your horse?

It's something I've often spoken about to Mum, and we go through the whole 'oh, don't be silly, of course nothing's going to happen to you' routine. But the fact is, these things can happen; do you have a plan in place if it does?

I honestly don't know what I would want to happen to Elz. She would certainly NEVER be sold; I used to always say she would go to my SJ trainer, and he would jump her whilst Mum still owned her, but now we dont jump any more (and she is 13) I wouldnt want that for her now. I wouldnt want her to be a broodmare, and I'm not sure Mum would ever want to ride her herself....so it only leaves my dressage trainer, who has already confessed she would buy Ellie if she could! Its horrid to think about it, but it is something that creeps into my mind now and again...

Horse, lorry, tack etc all to be sold and money go into trust for my 2 children and my ashes scattered in Blenheim lake-all sorted!

It may sound harsh, but I've said I would want mine put to sleep. They are both quite difficult, so I wouldn't like to leave them to friends, and I would hate for them to be passed from pillar to post if I wasn't around. (although I guess I wouldn't know about it!!)

I thought I was going to die today at one point!

If something happened to me then I trust my family would make the right decisions regarding the rehoming of them. Tills would probably stay here as she has a home for life and is retired anyway, but the other two would almost definitely be sold, and a companion pony bought to stay with Tills.

I think that I would ask if Ellie could go back to her breeder..

Owen.. I dont know, can't think of anyone that he would be right for apart from the girl who has him on loan at the moment. She already has a horse that is coming back into work after injury. Mmm. I think that Kerelli would be the right sort of person for him!

Mum would have Missie as she has a part share in her already. She's always wanted to own an event horse so I would want her to put Missie with a professional rider who would get the best out of her and give Mum a lot of pleasure going to watch her compete.

I have listed out what is to be done with all mine if something happens to me, I had to change it recently though because I changed the person who I would entrust to sort all of mine out.

I think its just being practical having arrangements for whats going to happen to your animals if something happens to you.

Most of mine would be sold; a couple would remain with my daughter, a couple would go to friends but the majority would be found new homes.

i honestly dont know but i trust my family would make a decision that i would like, as seren means the absolute world to me and she is a complete star and been with me for 15yrs now, she deserves the best, and i hope she would get the best if i were not here for her

I thought about this last weekend and told everyone involved what was to happen!

I've said that if something happens to me, my pals at the yard (share a horse between them) are to get first refusal on my girl. If they want her and are able to keep her, she's their's. If not, they're to be entrusted with finding her a 6* home for life with someone who will love her.

She's my first horse and very special to me, but my husband's not horsey and most likely wouldn't want to keep her plus none of my family are horsey or have land to kee her as a pet.

I should really get around to writing a proper will and getting it down in ink, but they all got briefed at the weekend on the arrangement!

A good friend has agreed to take my long term 2 on, and I'll leave her enough money to keep them until they go.

Haven't made arrangements for the new girl yet. Must do that.

Ru would go to my sis and i would leave it to her to decide if to sell/keep him. Gem is actually owned and paid for by my mum so she would still own her but i would imagine my sis would look after her and she's not really worth much as is now almost 16 and has various health problems.

My mother actually technically owns Maiden... she knows I want to keep her for the rest of her (Maiden's) life and hopefully if she comes sound enough I want to try to loan her to the RDA. I would hope that my mum would keep Maiden (considering she'll never have another horse of her own without me) and would loan her to the RDA once she's fit.
So basically Maiden will continue on the plan I have for her, whether I'm around or not!

Have spoken about this at length with hubby, Bud would be offered back to his previous owner, depending on what their circumstances were etc, if not he would be pts as hubby hasn't a clue how to deal with horses let alone a stroppy tb!!

I hope horsegroupie has left a horse or two to me.She knows they would be looked after well.
If I died ,my daughter would carry on as she is now but have to work very hard.
If she died ,Penfold would retire ,he is too tense for me to ride and we bred him and promised him a home for life
Rafi, I would ride ,he is only 5 but daughter is determined he will be her daughters horse [ she is only 2 years old]He will be a pensioner before she can ride him , but if its her wish

Fudge would go back to the rescue centre with Lady (She can from this centre) and I would put some money in trust for them on the condition that they be rehomed together or retired to the women who rescued Lady.
Other half is getting my portion of the house if anything happens on the condition that he keep my cat

The yard cat would be given to my best friend.
