If you pay someone to clip your ponies/horses, how much?

Well if she charges £30 for one I can't imagine there will be a huge discount for 2 as it will take her double the time and cause double the wear to her blades.

As she only has to make one journey to you I would hope you may get a £5/10 discount.

I paid £30 for a trace, with all the neck taken off. But she didn't have to travel as she works at the yard anyway.

I pay £25 per clip; whether full-clip or other. She doesn't charge for travelling but is fairly local and can be relied upon to do a fab job.

Clipped my boy myself once and and he went around looking like a rescue case, so never again (like cutting own hair :)).

Am quite happy to pay for a good job done and horse that looks immaculate.

I clip occasionally for people and charge:

Full/hunter including legs - £35
Full/hunter without legs - £30
Chaser/Trace/Blanket - £25
Bib/tidy up - £15

If doing multiple horses then I will offer a small discount but given how long it takes to clip etc then I wouldn't be taking a lot off for doing two horses, maybe £50 for 2 full/hunters. It's a lot of work to do a full clip on a horse and worse if they aren't good to clip. I don't generally charge for travel tho but won't go horrendously far

I agree there may be aslight discount as the horses are at the same place.
But it will still take the same time to clip each one so the discount is only taking in to account the saved traveling time.

As you say this person works on the yards, then i wouldnt expext a discount.

Full not including legs £45 for first clip and then £40 per re-clip . . . and she does a fantastic and very thorough job

I am thinking I need to start charging my mates as happily clip away for a good cup of coffee, a pot noodle and some clipper oil!! :)

i do a lot of cliping, and my insurance to clip other peoples horses is £390 pa. and all my machines have to be serviced and PAT tested annually as a minimum. and of course the tax man takes 25%

Paid £20 for a trace clip last year, bought my own clippers this year, thankfully my girl is an angel to clip & was very pleased with my first ever attempt! They will pay for themselves in no time! :)

I haven't paid for a horse to be clipped for 14 years but it seems to be the one thing that hasn't gone up much. I paid £36 then and was asked for the same now Have my own clippers so it doesn't cost me that much now just a tenner every now and again to sharpen the blades

Some of my liveries use a local girl who charges £30 for full clip or £45 for a blanket ... Then a range for other clips depending on whether she likes doing them or not! Seems to work for her, she's always quite busy.

I used to pay £25 for an irish clip but this year decided to learn how to clip my pony myself as then I can do him when I feel like it rather than having to wait for someone to come out and do it.

I was wondering do people pay more if they have a big horse than if they have a pony?
