I'd have no liveries because my list of do's and don'ts would be too long.
1 major rule above all others - The horses come first!

2. All horses get turned out/in by yard staff in morning (even diy) (only in stable if medical reasons apply ).
4. Must have insurance.
Apart from all that have fun with your horse.
^^ Agree, why turned out/in by staff only?
6. All children fully supervised at all times... This for me would apply upto 17 years old. Any naughty kids would be banned tooNo shouting, running round or screaming.
Ok 17 slightly harshI'll lower it to 14...
Good job I don't have my own yard eh.

I would hate to be on a yard run by most of you!
My current yard is one of the best I've been on almost entirely because it's so relaxed with very few rules. The other thing that makes it brilliant is no bitchyness.
I think my rules would be:
Clean up after yourself / your animals
Dogs and children under control or on a lead
Worming programme to be adhered to
Proper vet care etc must be provided
Hard hats must be worn when on a horse
Otherwise the only other thing would be that if you cause trouble / bitchyness then you're off the yard.
All included in price, to make sure horses are fed/ watered/ rugged and out for set time.
Some liveries will be around doing their own thing..no worries..
Bringing in again staff will be feeding at set times, dont want to leave any horse out.
Liveries will know that their horses taken care of twice a day only as much as I do like making up my horses bed I refuse to muck out Diy stable. I have seen diy put horse in stable 4.00pm and by the time I left stables next day 1pm still not turned up to water or fed, dont want this to happen to any horse at my yard (should mention my horse is out 24/7) and at my present yard other liveries help each other a lot.
Seen too many diy's forget they have a horse standing in a stable all day.
Can you give us an example or two? What sort of rules? And still there were some liveries who thought it did not apply to their precious darling.
Really? Liveries are fundamentally selfish? Not on my yard they're not. Some (I'd dare to say most) DIY liveries are capable of abiding by yard rules, treating other liveries (and their horses) with respect and taking the collective into account. Again, I'd love some examples here.Liveries are fundamentally selfish, their own horse is special, and requires special treatment. In my opinion all horses are special, and require special treatment. A yard is run for the collective, not the individual.
You'll get no argument from me on this . . .Rules need to be in place so everyone has standards to adhere to. And those rules need to be enforced. And the rules need to be published so everyone can see them.
