helloo everyone :) long time no see eh??!!
just been super duper busy with school and moving house and being chucked of by ponies haha :)

SAD NEWS: Had to say goodbye to Brommy a few weeks ago - we were planning on buying him, the owners originally agreed then decided against it - obviously im heartbroken and i miss him so much but at least i know his owners will love him :'(

GOOD NEWS: Due to the goodbye-ing of Brom my parents have finally agreed to get me a horse of my own in the next few months!! We went to see this fab little horse about a month ago who is still for sale but obv these things take a while...

...just wanted opinions. I reckon in this video he looks a bit stiff in his back legs and a bit tense BUT when i went to try him out he was completely the opposite! Was thinking it could be the rider?? Bit of info about him : 15.2hh rising 6 gelding breed unknown...intended as a showjumper which is what ive decided to do after riding Brom for all those months!

Hmm I don't mean to be rude but he looks totally crippled. He is hardly moving forwards at all, not tracking up, not bending on a circle at all...I would guess that he is lame in more than one legs and/or has serious back problems (personally I would look at his stiffles first).
 
From the video, he does look 'not right' at the back (near hock/stifle?).
If he wasn't like that when you tried him maybe he's had a problem that's been rectified? Did anybody video you riding him? That way you could see if he looked stiff when you were on board even if you couldn't feel it.
If there is a small issue, doesn't mean you have to discount this horse, just be aware that he might need more 'care' in certain areas. Also, a full vetting would be sensible!
 
I wonder if it's the rider? IT looks like she is blocking the forward movement. The trot is short, choppy and tense, and in the canter the hind leg could be more engaged and the riders hands are fixed. Personally I think I would like to see the horse ridden forwards more positively before deciding if it was lame.
 
agree with you all he does not look right in the video...have a bit of footage of me riding him and he looks like a different horse...obv we are gunna get my instructor down and get him vetted but im unsure atm...very odd.

oh and for rude commenters : im not a horsey moron, i do know just a bit (lol) about horses, weve have intructors speak to the owners, the owners do a buy-to-sell kind of thing with young horses and all their other ones have sold and are fine. i am aware that there does seem to be a problem in his behind, i was simply asking if anyone else saw it. he is not crippled. he is not tracking up because he is young and hasnt been schooled very well (is that not a bit obviuos??!!) and i think comments like that should be kept to yourself...thank you for disheartening and excited teenage girl - he is not my only option i am looking at others but it hurts when know-it-alls put you down like that.

young horses should still track up...

On my computer most of that video was totally out of focus, so couldn't comment on lameness/tracking up. But most of the time the horse wasn't travelling in a straight line and was swinging his hind quarters around.

I was proceed with great caution. And have a full vetting with your vet that is absolutely nothing to do with the seller.

Ditto this. He is not right - whether it be stifle, hock or Sacro illiac - definately not right!!! Seems sweet horse, but a very lame one :( He can't jump like he is.

That is a disappointing response when nobody here was being nasty, just giving you straight advice so you dont suffer potential heartache down the line. Get a vet check but I would keep your options open as something doesn't seem right in that video and there are plenty of clean horses on the market at decent prices at the moment.

Who was rude? You asked for opinions and I think every reply you have had has been constructive and honest and not in the least bit rude.

If you could get a better video maybe we would be able to see what you have felt in him when you ride him, but based on the vid you have posted I agree with Booboos and others, he doesn't look quite right behind. Whether that is due to a physical issue, lack of schooling or the rider we can't tell you!

Please don't accuse people of being rude when they are just responding with what you asked for - opinions on the potential new horse!
 
There is another video of him on there, he seems to be moving much better with a different rider... but still I am not quite sure he is exactly sound, sorry. Then again, if you like him, just have him vetted and see what comes up?
 
if im honest, yours was one of the more helpful comments, along with others, but i am upset that people think he is crippled. purely because he is a very sweet natured horse on the ground and i fell in love with his character...having said that, me and my mum are aware of the issue, and if anyone knows of a similar but better horse for sale under £3000 please let me know...

but he does look crippled - as in physically unsound, unable to move properly...
You weren't asking if he is sweet enough for a companion, you asked our opinion of him as a potential showjumper :o
 
Crippled doesn't mean useless. I don't think anyone said he was useless.

I'm fairly sure in this sales climate you can find plenty for under £3000.
 
ohmygod i was just saying hes a nice horse! i didnt say i wanted him as companion, i know i was just saying! i'll look elsewhere then, but i dont think hes crippled, just stiff and uncomfortable for some reason
 
welshponylover, I don't think anyone was intending to annoy or upset you. Really they are trying to point out potential issues (and to be fair, that's what you asked) to save you heartache in the long term. They aren't trying deliberately to ruin your fun; there are lots of lovely horses out there. It is far better that you fall in love with one that is 100% sound- that boy just doesn't look quite right, unfortunately.

Echo what others have said about an independent vet, should you get to that stage- what's meant to be will be! Don't be too disheartened, you've only started looking and you will find the best horse for you.
