have told new YO that i'm moving on the 17th and have told old YO that i'm going....i felt so awful because he's such a nice guy and with my friend going too it means losing three lots of rent in one go which will be a big blow- plus the fact that we are both long term liveries who pay on time etc...
frown.gif

he said he was going to try and improve TO etc but i just said that i really want all year TO (and proper TO-not a bog paddock) and also that the bitching had gone too far for me to stay and pretend that its never happened
frown.gif
since we had a word with YO the other day YM has been ignoring us- i presume because she might have got a bit told off (i doubt very much that he's really shouted or anything- probably just passed on what we have said)
last night i was feeling guilty and wondering if have done right thing. anyway, this morning i said 'morning' to YM and she gave me a proper dirty look and walked off so now i know i'm doing the right thing

just can't wait to go now

You are doing the right thing!

I left livery years ago, and bought my own place, due to the attitude of livery customers and owners!!

It never ceases to amaze me that as a paying customer at a livery yard you are shown so little respect. If you were the face of the company and dealt with customers that way, your boss would soon tell you where to get off!!

It's so unprofessional to sulk and ignore customers, and doesn't help all those who do have excellent livery yards with good customer service!!

You have handled this correctly, made your point and spoken to the person in charge. If anything, you are the one with the dignity not the YM.

I say you are doing the right thing and I hope that you are happy in the new place!

Best of luck with the move

Glad you've got it sorted!

It's a shame you've been there so long and you have to move on but having been in a similar situation, I can look back now and realise it was the best thing that could have happened.
It was the making of my horse moving him from a yard of small minded people intent on making other people's lives a misery.

Yey!

Well done - I'm glad you have got it sorted and I hope your horses will be happy in their new home - all year t/o will certainly help!!

As to your current yard I feel sorry for the YO that his business (especially at the moment) is being damaged by the small minded childish attitude of YM and others. To many people seem to forget that while your horses maybe a hobby a yard is essentially a business and you are paying customers who are entitled to a level of service - rant over!!

Bet you can't wait now until moving day....

Hi Diggerbez.
I have been reading your posts over the last few days regarding your yard situation.. You're deffo doing the right thing by leaving.. As for the YM - sod her!! She sounds unprofessional and childish. Bet you can't wait. Good luck

Why is it that a large proportion of livery yards have such clicky atmospheres. I had my own yard for many years & then had to move into livery yards, needless to say each yard had at least 2-3 people in them that were always bitching & made life hell. I have always tried to help others to the best of my ability and have tried never to interfere if it doesn't concern me. But time & time again i found that when helping people out in general it either ends up with them taking advantage or me being accused of sticking my nose in. It's a shame because being on your own in your own yard can be lonely at times but being in a livery yard can be stressful too. If you are lucky enough to come across a yard with easy going people in it who just want to enjoy there horses then stick to it like glue, they are very few & far between

thanks for the help and support folks- this has been a very difficult decision and you lot have helped me to work through it
smile.gif

i feel so sorry for the farmer coz as you have all said its a shame that its his business being ruined by others. the arena needs another load of rubber as its getting a bit deep and they've all been moaning- well what they don't realise is that he won't be able to afford to buy if for them for a while now...
i know there will probably be bitchy people at new place but good thing is i'm going with a friend and my sharer so am just going to keep my head down and not offer any advice or anything - as girla said you either get told off or taken advantage of and i've had enough!
smile.gif
i'm just going to be friendly and thats it! which is a shame as i have space in my trailer and do have some knowledge but i'm going to keep it all to myself!!

YAY!! That's really good news. I know it was difficult making the decision, but I am SURE you and your horses will be much much happier. Look forward to hearing how it goes!

I hope you don't do what one of our new liveries has done - complained to the YO that there was horse fur on the ground outside her stable!! Um, we are all trying to strip their winter woolies out at the moment and it does rather blow about. I pointed out that she had left the fallout of a haynet outside my stable which frankly is unhygienic and lazy. I didn't say I knew she'd used my horse's water bucket to shampoo her horse (suds were left in it). Some people!

im glad youve got the new yard sorted, not nice the situation you have found yourself in. The YM seems to be acting slightly childish with giving you dirty looks - but sod her shes not worth it. hope the move goes smoothly, will be thinking of you on the 17th. enjoy your horses and the new yard.

errr...no! i'm probably the messiest person in the world (i have to make a real concious effort not to annoy people with my messiness) so i would never whinge about anything like this! new yard is rather tidy, am a bit worried!

Good for you
smile.gif

I must say, I think the YO and YM have only themselves to blame for the loss of revenue. The YO should have realised long ago that there wasn't enough turnout and should know that YM is unprofessional. I wonder if they think you will recomend that yard to anyone else.
Hope the new yard works out really well for all of you and your horses

thanks pearl and thanks for all the yard suggestions!

i've found one about 10 mins away in the end (but in my defence it only opened in december so i didn't know about it
