so feel free to laugh :D

Are 'Teacup' Chihuahuas a recognised breed or are they just very little Chihuahuas?

And to make you laugh even more...

I want one. Really bad. I have no idea why, I like gundogs normally FFS!

They're just very small chis.

Don't like the idea of them being purposefully bred to be so tiny, apparently in the USA where they are everywhere, there are cases of puppies being born with malformed or missing legs :(

Ah, thank you for clarifying I suspected that may be the case but wasn't sure. That's horrid :( I don't want one now!

Normality has returned, where are my labs?!

Chihuahuas are pretty small, anyway, without the whole teacup thing (5lbs as opposed to 2lbs). As a breed I actually like them, too, as does Stella. They're feisty, but if you treat them like real dogs, they are playful and sociable with other dogs, especially small ones.

There are literally scores of them in rescue in NYC. How about I pop this fellow in the post for you? ;)

I know I shouldn't like them but I can't help it because as you say, they are such fun and fiesty little dogs!
Also, I am probably gonig to be moving into a flat instead of a house so a tiny dog would suit but I don't do terriers and as much as I would love a BC like Stella they are very difficult to get over here.

(Beastie won't be comnig to live with me unfortunately as she is 9 this year and uprooting her would just not be fair and I couldn't justify it, no matter how much I will miss her but the parents will look after her well!)

I feel the same way, too, about most tiny dogs. I'm not a Yorkie person at all and anything small and white leaves me cold, but for some reason, chihuahuas are appealing. Anyway, good plan re: the tiny dog. My neighbour has a Mastiff that just about takes up the entire living room!

Oh, and be glad there is no Petfinder website in the UK. Petfinder is lethal. I am now craving a third dog in the form of this fellow:-

A tiny dog also means the rabbits could beat it up :p It's either a tiny dog or a cat. Very undecided, but a while to decide anyway! I will of course be looking in rescues, but not guaranteed they will rehome to me as I will be returning to full time work.

Ohhhhhhhhhh and how cute is that little guy!

I actually like Chis as a breed, feisty little things and very game. They're a lot 'bigger' than people give them credit for and I wish more people would treat them like dogs and not toys.
Just don't really like this fad for miniscule things......

Oh don't worry, it would be treated as a dog :D I didn't realise they intentionally breed them tiny, so will definitely avoid anything like that :)

I used to have a l/c chihuahua and he was certainly feisty, another word for it might be a little s*d. Could have come from growing up surrounded by GSDs, he used to sleep on my bed and attack anyone who came in my bedroom.:D

We are going to get a chi at some point this year. There are hundreds in rescues here.

We are in a zoned area so can olny have 3 dogs maximum so having Abe, a chi and a foster dog at a time is our limit so we want to make sure we find the perfect rescue boy.
